Shimano BB Tech Question - 7700 vs 7710
Can't Post
Anyone out there able to tell me whether the Simano Octalink BB-7700 bottom bracket is interchangeable with the BB-7710? Both are 109.5 spindle length but 7710 is listed as a Track version.
I need one for a tri bike and all I can find is a 7710.
Thanks,
Brian

I don't know but a quick google shows plenty of 7700s for sale:

I have per request used a 7710 BB in place of the 7700 BB on some bicycles. There have been no issues that I can recall once they were installed. They do share the same spline dimensions as the others.
The 7710 is the track version of the BB, and is built with a sealed bearing system, much like the 6500 BB is. The 7700 BB is a cup/cone system that requires adjustment of bearing play and very periodic maintenance. Alot of people ended up using Ultegra BB's in their Dura Ace setups because they didnt have to worry about the BB once it was installed. From what I understand, the 7710 is just the Dura Ace version of that Ultegra BB. The trick is finding them though. They have always been brought to me via connected channels, as they are/were hard to find at one time.

Thanks - that is the info I need. Had heard that the Ultegras were more durable that the D-Ace at half the price but never knew why but your response helps explain.
