Running Backbacks
Can't Post
I commute to work by running. I currently use an old but awesome NIke ACG runing backpack which has served me very well. After 5 or 6 years it has seen it better days. I am now in the market for a new running backback. I need to be able to get a pair of pants, shirt, sweater, socks and underwear in it. Not much else. I keep an extra pair of shoes at work. Any recommendations?

No recommendations here, sorry. I'm just struck by how hardy your legs must be to have been running with that extra weight on you all these years without it causing you issues.
I envy your ability to commute to work by running.
What I can do is speculate on what you'd want in a backpack you use to run to work.
- Waterproof in case it's raining and you want dry clothes at work
- Weight bearing waist strap to take the weight off your spine

I train for all my races by running with a Camelback; I'd highly recommend using one for your purposes. It has the chest and waist supports and some of them can carry all you need for work and then some. My Camelback has traveled the world with me and is perhaps the best $100 I've ever spent.

An 'Arctic' model from 2007; it has a outer lining for the water tube for insulation purposes. Its meant for snowboarding but has worked just fine in the summer.

For running backpacks I would look at Nathan (HPL series), Lafuma, Salomon. These are the best running backpacks with many different sizes and features.

I do all of my long runs with a backpack. I have two...Ultimate Direction Wasp and the Nathan HPL 020. I like the Ultimate Direction much more for a couple of reasons: better fit, the bite valve, location of the front pockets, and reservoir design is easy to clean & fill.

I run to work and have three that I use for commuting and also for xc skiing:
Salomon Raid Revo 30: Big and light but needs to be relatively full to stop it from bouncing around.
Lafuma Active 20: Smaller, even lighter and has a spot for a water bottle.
Dakine Heli Pro 20 (old version): Fits the snuggest of any, no matter how full it is. However, it is VERY heavy and not very breathable. They have changed the design, so I don't know if it's still as good.
The first 2 were recommended to me by adventure racers, but actually prefer the Dakine.

I'm in the same boat. Run to work 3-4 mornings a week. I've been running in a Black Diamond Bbee which fits a pair of shoes, pants, shirt, sunglasses, wallet, and phone pretty much perfectly (like full to the brim). Now that it's cooling off though, I'm realizing I'm going to need more space to carry a little more clothing so I'm gonna need a bigger bag. I'll take a look at the ones listed...
