Profile Cobra Wing Bar Mod?? Can't Post

Anyone ever trim a set of Profile Cobra Wing bars? Any issues? What I would like to do is remove abou 1 inch from the grip (the up angle part) so that it is flat (like a easton attack bar). Will the brak expander nut still fit? HELP

I tried doing this but my LBS told me that the carbon isn't reinfornced there so that cutting it would be a bad idea. I don't know if that's the case or not but I went ahead and took their advice.

I've cut them down to be straight for a customer, only after he signed a waiver though. A brake will fit in once you dremel out the extra carbon to the correct diameter.

Why did you make them sign a waver? Is it a risky thing to do where it might compromise the integrity of the bars? or is that just standard procedure for any modification?

Just curious because like I said above, I looked into doing it but was steered away by the lbs.

It's standard procedure for us as it is a modification to the bar outside of how the bar was designed. The waiver helps protect me as the store owner, my mechanics, and the store in the event that something fails and there's a lawsuit. The modification isn't abnormal but I don't feel like I should be held responsible for altering the bar at the customer's request.

If we install the bar and follow the torque specs then the failure is due to the manufacturer as we followed the guidelines.

A shortened bar should be fine though, maybe ask your LBS if you can sign a waiver to get it done.
