Post IM-Canada: Sutton Addresses Granger Affair Can't Post

I thought this might bring up some discussion, in light of the fact that Belinda Granger just won Ironman Canada, without her husband Justin at her side. At the TeamTBB website, Brett Sutton posted a lengthy message on the forum, saying her being in Penticton alone was by design, to silence the doubters, particularly from this forum. It's an interesting read, found here at the team site. It's an interesting read.

We saw Belinda out on course a number of times throughout the day. At the beginning, she was riding with a small pack of guys, all at legal distances. For much of the second half, she rode alone.

Too bad I can't say the same for some of the pro men and top male AGers, even some STers...

Shawn,

I agree. I have not followed everyone of Granger's races, but I do know that last year at IMUSA, when I was following her around the course covering the race for IMLive, she rode almost the whole way solo! So I have never really bought into this non-sense that she is being towed around the course by someone. It's amazing what people say/believe, compared with the actual reality of the situation.

Solid race for your better half. Getting under 10 at IMC is fantastic!

Wow...talking about not being able to see the trees because of the forest... I can't see the message because of the grammar (or lack thereof)!

Did he really write that? Wouldn't he know how to spell his own athlete's name?

I was on the flight with Belinda from Vancouver to Penticton on Thursday. She said right there, that she decided to never race another race where her husband is in the field. Belinda is an amazing athlete. What a win today. Truly well deserved.

DUDE! WTF are you doing posting? Go to the finish line and cheer the rest of the folks on, man!

Awesome work my man.

As for the OP, Belinda, man she totally deserved this win. I read those other posts with some skepticism, I prefer to trust that people are generally honest and hardworking by default. I am glad to see that her talent shone through.

What I find amazing is that they actually give a shit about what's said in this forum. If I was a pro I could, actually, care less.

The power and importance of what get's said here has a full range - amongst the movers and the shakers in the sport. Some could not care less and think it all a joke, while others take it very seriously.

I'm toast...I rode the 3K uphill to the top of the hill that Dr. Tommy lives on in my 34x25 with all my gear and a the penalty lap for being mentally weak of race day. I can't bring myself to heading back down....sorry this time....I fi was stay closer, I would be there! My race report is on another thread that I posted.

But this is the Belinda Granger thread. She is an awesome athletes and even nicer person. We sat around in the terminal in Vancouver and she's telling this complete poser stranger triathlete about some very cool training rides that she does in Switzerland....and did I say that he is TOTALLY hot (us married guys can look the desert, and even talk to it, but that is about it...)

I know there are very knowledgeable people in this forum. What I mean is that always the ones that start the "Belinda is a cheater" threads are just some random posters who should not be given all the importance.

Re: Post IM-Canada: Sutton Addresses Granger Affair [AndyPants] [In reply to] Can't Post

I agree with all that Belinda had an AWESOME race today at IMC, totally crushed the bike, a superb win.
If she can recover in time to race her best at Kona, it could be very interesting w/ her and CW both killing it in races this season.

HOWEVER

The fact that she dominated in winning today, and rode cleanly, solo, etc, has exactly zero to do with what she may or may not have done at prior races.

She would be very wise to stick to what she told Dev, so as to avoid any issues (theoretical or otherwise) like she had prior.
Then everybody will see what an amazing athlete she is, without any of the other noise clouding the results.

ML, I totally agree. BG was awesome and what she said was from the bottom of her heart. I got the feeling then and there that she was on a mission to shut everyone up and she delivered the goods. That was a dominating race. But she did say that CW was in a completely different league. I don't think that BG things she can beat CW, simply because CW can back up blazing rides with EVEN more blazing runs. According to BG if CW was not a chicken white knucler descender, she would have WON the Alpe d'Huez Tri OVERALL!!!!

Re: Post IM-Canada: Sutton Addresses Granger Affair [STJay] [In reply to] Can't Post

thanks for posting this Jay - too bad people choose to make a scene about Sutton's grammar than the point of what he wrote.

Too bad "the BG bashers" also easily forget her domination of Lake Placid last year and that it came what, only 4 weeks or so after her 3rd place in Roth...
