Philly Marathon - Where is everyone staying? Can't Post

I haven't booked my hotel yet and I am wondering where is a good place to stay? Hotels in downtown area are $$$ and another $30-40 for parking.

Where is everyone else staying? and any recommendations?

Me, I'm staying at my house. But I only live 1 1/2 hours away. I don't know if you live in PA or if you have a car, but you should look at hotels outside the city. They will not charge you for parking and will be slight less expensive. When I get home tonight, I can give you some more specific recommendations based on what your looking for.

Thanks OBXBoy03. I live in DC and never been to PA. I do have a car and will be driving up. Based on the map, there is the downtown area ($$$$) and the start line is about 1.5 miles north from downtown area. I am looking for hotels which is walking distance to the start line.

staying at the courtyard marriott (I think it is on the philly marathon page as lodging recommendations) - which is probably a short cab ride on race morning...or a nice warm-up run.

Well in downtown, hotels I have stayed at that are nice are Loews, Ritz Carlton, Crowne Plaza, and the Marriot are all nice. Anything on Market Street would prob be the most practical as you can walk around and there is a mall and some other places to go and it is near the Convention Center. It is also not the best part of Philly but it also not the worst.

Registration, starting line, finish line, etc. is right by the art museum. if you look at a map of downtown, it's pretty easy to find - just follow the Ben Franklin Parkway from city hall angling NW. You should be able to figure out any hotel's distance from there.
since i'm from here i can't tell you anything about the different hotels. 4 seasons is probably the most convenient, but i hear it's kinda spendy. ;-)

Try the Sheraton. IT is an easy warm up run from the AM area. The lobby was packed with people before PDR. anything on Ben Franklin Parkway or near Logan Square is good. I believe that there is a Hampton Inn right next to the convention center.
