P4 @ Cadence NYC Can't Post

I saw the P4 at Cadence NYC today. They have it there for a couple of days and it's totally worth checking out if you are in the neighborhood, considering you won't see one in a store for months. Looks so much better in person and the rear brake fairing is really well designed. Guy there said it will probably be gone by Wednesday at the latest.

I was there yesterday. Not sure if it will be "gone" as in "sold" as this is a "non-rideable" version.
I took a couple of pictures but will not share these here as I don't know if Cadence would be ok with it.

What can I say? It is just as ugly in reality as it is on the pictures. The bentobox is a disgrace.

The P4 certainly ain't a thing of beauty. As the official ST bullshit watchdog, which frames on the market are officially free of bullshit?

Is it going to "tour" through the Philly location?

You can see it here. Only the one shot: www.cadencecycling.com/CMSFiles/P4_NYC.jpg
Maybe they'll post some more. It's scheduled for a photo shoot in NYC, then heads to Kona. Won't be showing up in Philly location.

Sorry, but I think that is one ugly bike.

I really fell for the hype and expected something quite special.

"I really fell for the hype and expected something quite special."

You'll find what you're looking for in the swoopy Taiwan knockoff section.

Meanwhile, for those with a more discerning eye, the P4's dramatic performance improvements over the P3 more than make up for any supposed lack of style or flair.

Indeed, if you want something 'special', just buy aerodynamic looking crap like a Ceepo Viper or Scott Plasma.

Re: P4 @ Cadence NYC [Rouleur] [In reply to] Can't Post

i can't vouch for the huge tubed scott, but i've actually seen recent wind tunnel test results for the remarkably smooth and narrow ceepo venom. it did very well at a bunch of yaw angles and at zero degrees. it was tested against various other brands and it performed very close to the p3d, which isn't surprising as they do have a similar shape and design. so i wouldn't be so quick to put the ceepo in the 'aerodynamic crap' category.

then to anyone: any idea how the p4 "stiffener" works? how can something that is just popped in to what is essentially a bottle cage make any big difference in frame flex? the stiffener is not bolted in, is it? wouldn't a better name for it be, "frame plug"?

A bit early on to say that i would think. I'll wait to see more then a single wind tunnel test.

"A bit early on to say that i would think. I'll wait to see more then a single wind tunnel test."

A valid point. Until independently verified, we are left to trust Cervelo's numbers. However, it is nonsensical to think Cervelo would squander their hard-earned reputation by putting out this bike with those numbers and claims if they are patently false. While duplicating numbers across windtunnels and tests is nearly impossible, odds are there will soon be numbers lending credence to Cervelo's own numbers.

Oh...and the phrase is "more THAN"...not "more then". ;-)

It works like this: When you put the stiffener in place it makes the frame more aerodynamic, oops I mean stiffer. I think a better name would be bootm bracket fairing instead of stiffener or toolbox or anything else that they pretend it to be.

Is it the angle of the photo, but, what's with those brake levers? Does the left one seem sprung?
