One of my favorite bike product photos to date.
Can't Post
We're finishing up a review of the lightweight road bike in this photo. Part of the challenge of expressing how light the bike is (13lb.s 11 oz. as seen) was by comparing it to things. That's when we thought of Sammy the Cat. The photo turned out really cool I thought.
Sammy the Cat was rescued by customers of ours years ago and lived at our shop until he was adopted.
That is young Sammy on the right in the above photo. He's all grown up now and returns for this photo shoot at a rather strapping 19 lbs + or a shade over five pounds heavier than the bike in the review. Here he is with the lightweight bike:

Funny comparison and all, but my God that's a fat cat (no offense, I don't want that feline mad at me)! What does an
average
full-grown cat weigh?

I think between 10 and 11 pounds. Sammy has likely had a lot of ham in his day.

That's the fattest cat I've ever seen. The only cats I like are the ones that come with cat eating dogs.

Double fiddlesticks Tom! I hate Look, I don't know how you do it but you manage to make it look actually nice. I am not talking about the photo, I am talking about the bike, components, color etc. everything in harmony. Some over do with matching tires etc. but your builds are just at the right taste of visual with quality parts.

Nice of you to say. I can't take credit for that though, as it was the decisions of the fellows here building the bikes. Only the angry cat was my idea.

That's officially the coolest measurement for bike weight, ever.
"How much does your bike weigh, Bob?"
"Oh, about 0.98 cats."

From someone who suffered a fairly nasty crash a few weeks ago when a cat ran into the road and I went over the handlebars. That looks like a death trap to me.
But seriously, it's an interesting way to show how light it is. Maybe a picture of a cat that weighs the same as the bike might be better. I've picked up some HEAVY cats before.

I'm not sure what Sammy ate to get that big, but when he was young, I gave him ham. He liked that.

That's awesome, Tom. My girlfriend, who loves cats but is ambivalent towards SRAM Red-equipped bikes (and all other types of bikes as well), thinks the picture is adorable.
I think you should do more mashup-style pictures like this one, where your photo-studio-decked-out-color-tweaked bike is complemented with a normal, everyday, cute or hilarious object :)

That's a big nice pussy
What would that build work out to weigh in a 57.5 top tube size? If i have 404 clinchers and my bike weighs 16.00 lbs how much would it weigh if i put on some 404, or 303, or 202 tubies on it?
argh.... what does a 58cm R3 and a R3SL frame weigh?
......over and out......
