A cooler picture would be of an old style balance scale with the cat in one pan and the bike hanging from the other side... showing how much lighter it is than the cat.

Aw man... You may have just spoiled the party. We couldn't make the scale idea work, but we could create it in photoshop for the graphic on the home page- that is the direction we're headed.

This should go over into the Lavendar Room...who cares about a fat cat comparison? Really....
I agree with the other post dirty, ugly, nasty little poopers.
p.s. Who could probably sell that fat cat for a bizillion dollars to some Vietnamese Restaurant Owner.

So I found this thread trying to find info on recovery foods, thanks to the YaHey joking about feeding your cat recovery drink. Anyway, I don't mean to be rude, but I have to ask out of curiosity...is that bike + cat picture photoshopped? Looking at some of your bike review pics with the grey backgrounds I've always suspected a little retouching and airbrushing in the backgrounds, and this cat just looks like he was copy-pasted into the pic!
Not that it's a shot at your production or your reviews, they're wonderful. But I just have to know!

A lot of time, sometimes hours, goes into every photo we take for a web review. For the product shots, where we are trying to make the product look nice, we do a lot of the same clean up you see in bike catalogs and manufacturers' website. We also spent a lot of time on lighting, etc.
In the original photo the parking lot is messy, the lighting is flat and the pavement is full of cracks. The finished version is cleaned up substantially and also adjusted fully for exposure and lighting.
This is what the raw photo looked like, and the finished version is next to it:

Pavement, I wouldn't have guessed - I always thought they were shot against a grey backdrop that had a funny shadow at the top you wanted to cover up. I guess the flash system you use made the cat seem askew to me. Thanks for clearing it up!

I'm trying to find the memory card with the photos on it because there are a couple funny ones where the cat was just not cooperating.

As the food-giver to two cats, I'd imagine you could fill several memory cards with photos of cats not cooperating.

You're kidding, right? Get a cat to sit in a very specific spot, such as the plate of a scale, is completely impossible.
Tom is lucky he got the cat in the shot at all!

Growing up, my sister always had cats. Useless animals as far as I'm concerned. They are even more selfish and self centred than me! And according to my wife, that is a near impossible feat to achieve.
Cats as a group have got me back tho'. Years ago I was replacing the sewer from the house to the street. The inspector took months to come and inspect my handiwork. The neighbourhood cats used the trench and pile of dirt beside it as a litter box. When I shovelled the pile back into the hole, a spec of what I thought was dust, but turned out to be cat shit, got in my eye. I thought I'd got the dust out. By the next day I needed to go to the hospital where I found that I HAD got the dirt spec out, but it turned out it was cat shit. The cat shit infected my eye, caused permanent pitting of my eye and I was on fairly painful steriod drops for 8 weeks. Now that eye is my weak eye during the daytime. There is a faint white haze when I look through that eye. At night, every single pit hole (I have about 30 of them left) makes a halo of light around every point of light. Streetlights and advertizing makes driving very difficult and riding my bike in the winter mornings with on-coming traffic is a complete pain in the ass to deal with.
I like cats less now than when I was growing up.

I hate cats.....nasty little buggers ;-)
But the fat ones are great for leg massage after hard rides or runs. Nothing better than having an 18 or 20 pound cat to stomp on your lap and get the blood flowing again. My wife and I keep two cats - one of them for his personality, and the other as a recovery device.
That being said, I wish that she'd just stick with massage therapy. She keeps trying to branch out into acupuncture.

That's the fattest cat I've ever seen. The only cats I like are the ones that come with cat eating dogs.
Please remember though: the camera adds 10 pounds!!!! and maybe he was just in an unfortunate pose.
I think he's adorable.
We have 3 cats, one baby girl (3lbs) just adopted that is probably aiming for 19lbs with her appetite, one 13lbs-er with normal weight and one "big-boned" cat with 19lbs. Seriously, not fat, big-boned.

Sammy looks like he ate the other two cats.
Any 14lb bruiser would've been a more accurate weight comparison. Must be one around there somewhere?

Mine used to wait till I was asleep on the couch, then sit on my chest. I had a recurring heart attack dream :-)
