My report from the Olympic Training Center... Can't Post

I spent a week at the OTC in Colorado Springs for a development camp. If anyone is interested, here's a short story I wrote about it.

The OTC is awsome, I spent a week or so up there for a swim training camp a couple years ago. Being able just to eat sleep and swim is a wonderful life, especially when someone else is making the food for you.

Without a doubt my favorite part about the OTC is the food. I think I put 5 pounds on in a week.

I spent a few weeks there when I was in high school for a cycling camp in '88 or '89. Good times. I remember jumping the fence to go to the taco bell across the street at night. The workouts were brutal. On the way to breakfast we (about 30 of us) would have to stop at the running track and line up in 2 groups across from each other. We would do 200m repeats (running) pursuit style and the winner of each group got to go eat. A trainer workout late morning, road ride in the afternoon and swimming or weights in the evening.

My favorite memory was when we borrowed some ID's one night (to show we were 18) and went to a strip joint called Puss 'n Boots. We showed up to the cafeteria the next morning wearing Puss 'n Boots T shirts.

Bob Billings was the junior national coach back then. One day this cocky kid our age showed up in a new white IROC Camaro. He was not at the camp, but we heard he was just starting to race bikes and was a triathlon pro or something like that.

Thanks for bringing up some memories. I have not thought of that in several years.

Thats awesome! The Taco Bell is still there. I am not sure about Puss n boots. I'll look into that when I am back there. Gee, now who could that kid in the IROC be? Hmmm. Great story, I love hearing stuff like that.
