You will enjoy the Talon. It is a great ride. I would forget about the carbon stem or base bar. Neither will really be an upgrade and they certainly will not affect performance or comfort. Spend the money on some good cycling shorts.
With your current set up, clip on aerobars won't help you too much because your bars are so high. Your elbow pads will be higher than your saddle. If you drop all of the spacers, flip the stem and buy some aerobars will very little rise, you might be able to get low enough.
There are a couple of spots on the Talon where the cables can rub the frame and eventually scratch the clear coat. Get some tape on those spots to protect the frame. I would use red and black electrical tape. Works great.
If you ever have to replace the cables, use scotch tape to attach fishing string to the old cables and when you pull the old cables out, leave the fishing string in there as a place holder. Then when you put the new cables, use the fishing string as a guide. It is really easy and will save you tons of time.

Nice ride. Like the crank! I wouldn't mess with a carbon stem, but that's just me.

I just bought the same frame with the Ultegra SL. I can't wait to get on it once the build is complete!

Thanks for the input on the base bar/stem.
The plan for tri training and racing is to flip the stem, bring the saddle in the forward position on the seat post, and add aero bars. And then, hopefully, be able to jump back to a road bike when I want to. I just have no experience with aero bars so I'll have to get used to it.
And thanks for the tip on the cables scratching the frame. Going to get some electrical tape. I did replace the stock grey cable housings (is that what their called) with some black so they would blend in.
Haven't had much time on it yet, but so far I love it. I'll be riding it in an Oly this weekend and then at the end of July.
Can't beat the price it sold for.

Congrats! I had a Talon for a few years.
Good comment on the fishing string. I used old lengths of housing (free from the bike shop) to run cables and it worked like a charm. Once you lose the placeholder though... PITA!

Thanks.
I was out on a ride with a friend last night. When we got done he told me that the bike was fast and he couldn't keep up with me.
Of course I told him that it's not about the bike, it's about the engine.
