Most Important Things To Know--That we don't know--about Triathlon Can't Post

I did my usual troll through ST tonight looking for insights that will help me be a better triathlete. Increasingly when I do this I find I've read it all before--either here or elsewhere. That said, there still is a lot I don't know--I'd be interested in knowing what you'd love to know or discover about triathlon that you don't know....

what is it for you?

“Clarity of purpose comes when you are pursuing the highest expression of your talents, are motivated primarily by the love of your activity, and live a lifestyle congruent with your stated purpose. When you have clarity of purpose, you will do whatever it takes to achieve your goals—and you will love every minute of it.”

Easy - "Dont buy into it!"

Unless you are in the top 1% of your AG - all the wind tunnel tests, aero and dimpled that, FASTskin those, compression that and on and on and on...wont help you one iota if you dont train.

Train until you get tired, then recover. Rinse and repeat. nothing fancy about what a lot of the fast guys do or buy.

I used to race a CX bike during road races. Everyone joked and laughed at the start. Equipment is only one part. Training hard and smart is the biggest.

This is all child's play.
We rode our bikes to the swimming pool or lake.
We swam and then rode to the park.
At the park we ran around until exhausted.
We got up the next day & did it again.

How to qualify for Kona on 10 hours of training a week when the genetic odds are stacked against me.

:-)

I think what many people here need to know is how to let go of the numbers and analysis and just have fun sometimes. Even if you are shooting for Kona, it isn't fun unless you are making time to have fun. I think there are a lot of people on here that need to learn how to do that.
