4.6km today. Was a bit of a struggle. I feel about 10 seconds per 100m slower in this pool!

That's perfectly fine. Remember, these challenges don't make any sense if they do not serve the purpose of advancing one's level of fitness and health.

I injured something in the lower part of my shoulder yesterday swimming, and so I may be in the same boat as you, albeit at a much lower level of distance and skill.

1,400 in a recovery swim tonight. Frequency is rising, and maybe the yards will start piling up. I bellieve that makes 16,250 for the month. Thanks.

Masters swim at lunch:2250
a little extra while my wife was in learn to swim class:450 (mostly hypoxic/underwater)
day total:2700
month total: 20850

on some timed 100s, my best has improved by 6 seconds since Masters started a month ago. This is paying off.

Please put down just another 1550m
as 500 swim
10*50m
5*100m
and 50 breast

Thanks. Tomorrow may be a double swim so I could get some good distance in then.

Used my swim mp3 tonight, and it was fun although it may be harder to count longer sets.

Have a good one.

Is it okay to jump on the bandwagon halfway thru the month?

Sure, why not! Just let us know what you've done so far and what you hope to achieve. Granted, you may not be eligible for group adulation for beating your goals (as you already know what you've done halfway through the month), but group adulation is sometimes overrated.

First day back at Masters this morning, didn't feel too bad drafting in the back.

4,000 + 2,250 = 6,250 through 1/17

still a chance to hit my goal!

Just 2400m last night. Struggling to keep up the yardage. Constantly tired, so I'm not keeping up my times as well. Pretty much just focusing on building endurance at this point.

My shoulder feels better, but not perfect. Seems to be a strain in the very upper part of my lat, so not exactly in the shoulder, which is good. I'm hoping its gone by Friday! I took it easy this morning, swam 2550 all pretty easy.

We're crossing our fingers for you!!!!

Re: January Swim Challenge - The Madness Continues! [saltman] [In reply to] Can't Post

I usually swim at a 25 meter pool. Last week I swam at a 25 yard pool and had to convert the yards to meters. So, no I didn't stop in the middle of a lap. 2000 yards equals 1828.21 meters!

Re: January Swim Challenge - The Madness Continues! [mlbdenver] [In reply to] Can't Post

alright then, I'm in. I'm injured and the only workouts I can keep doing right now are in the pool, but mostly with a pull buoy - thanks to a bad ankle sprain. But making it a game with a goal, add some cheering and jeering from the slowtwitchers, I'm in!

Goal: 45,000 meters by Jan 31.
Done: 6700m.

Accomplished already: swam thru a 'fecal incident' today. Good thing my pool is never low on chlorine!!!!

A "fecal incident"???? You ought to get some sort of bonus for living through that! Welcome, that is quite a goal!

eeeewwwwwwwwwwwwww

" I'm injured and the only workouts I can keep doing right now are in the pool, but mostly with a pull buoy" - sorry to hear about your ankle sprain :( - try some pulling without a buoy, that will net you some wicked good upper body strenght.
