Compression tights work wonders. I put them on right after the race and wear them throughout the next day.

Usually by Tue or Wed, I am ready for a massage. Hurts at first, but, works wonders.

TONS of water. You should be peeing every hour or more.

Stretching. Twice a day.

Get on the bike, very low gears, spin like crazy. I try to keep above 90 rpm and under 130-140 watts. Flushes out the legs.

Probably too late for ice baths. You should have done that immediately.

No running. If you have a lap pool that is kept at a cool temp, go do some easy swimming. It will help flush the legs/body.

Nothing the first week. Goof around the second week. Then do a sprint tri. Feels great!

Do nothing strenuous for at least a week...two would be better.

Some light spinning\swimming the first week is ok, but take some time off. Not only do you need a mental break, but physically your body needs to recover...even after the soreness goes away.

Expect your first couple of workouts to feel horrible. Power numbers will be down and RPE will be higher...this is just your body's way of telling you its not ready to go hard yet. Listen to your body and don't rush back into it. You won't lose your base by taking a couple of weeks off and when you come back the quality of your workouts will be much better than if you rush back into it.

My 2 cents...

Just chill out a little :) It's good that you still hurt - it means you pushed hard. I'm often amazed when I hear about people feeling fresh as a daisy a day or two after an IM or ultramarathon! I couldn't even drive my car for three days after my recent ultra. You should kick your legs up and eat some protein - beef jerky style!
