Lunchbox - your sig line seems to take on new meaning in the context of this discussion.

Now, on to recovery nutrition. Tonight, 1/2 of a lime (eaten immediately upon return), followed by 15min beer @ 5 min. rest.

And off-topic, just wanted to say welcome to the radiology department. I'd like to make an offer: if you end up anywhere where I know any of the techs, I'll put in a good word for you. In return, if you and I should ever end up in the same race, perhaps you could try to look like you're working really hard when you go past me.

  Deal!

Back in college I'd walk to the Hardee's across the street from the pool, and down a Monster Burger, Fat Person Large Dr. Pepper, some curly fries, and occasionally a spicy chicken sandwich.

Then walk back over to the pool for swim practice - pure energy.

Nothing settles the stomach like a nice warm teaspoon of mayonnaise.

MMMM..mayonnaise. It was a 100+ day with high humidity and the sun just blazing. We were doing a century with solid climbs Everyone was suffering bad. We stop at a deli on the return to get more fluids. Just something to nibble on for those who could stomach food and there is a guy sitting in the sun eating a tub of egg salad. I almost puked just watching him eat it.

This one is going to sound odd but how about Gel's. I hate them in anything but small doses... I say you down 12 gel's and then try to do a workout, I would shurley hurl...

Spicy salmon skin sushi at an all-you-can-eat sushi buffet. Lesson: you get what you pay for.

I think most Japanese food started out as a dare. Like so:

"Dare you to eat raw fish."

"I'll eat the raw fish if you eat a live octopus."

"Double dog dare you to eat that poisonous blowfish . . ."

On a related theme, "What not to have at the last rest stop at the Hotter-n-Hell Hundred bike ride" (which is happening again this weekend):

They have a keg (or two, or twelve) at the last rest stop on the century route. Ahhh... beer sounds and smells good then. BUT, about a quarter mile past that stop you smell a lot of that beer again, this time left behind on the asphalt. YUCK. Does not smell as good when it's bubbling on the hot asphalt.

(((The scientist in me wants to hang out there and count the servings-to-hurl ratio)))
