IM Florida Race Director Can't Post

Hello, I was wondering if anyone knew a way for me to contact the IM Florida Race Director. I understand there is a new one as of a month ago by the name of Ben Rausa. I tried contacting the old one twice through NA Sports but neveer got a response back. I am in the military and my deployment cycle changed suddenly and can't do IM Florida as I'm now in Iraq. I was going to ask for a refund or to defer until next year. I think this might fall under the Soldier and Sailors Releif Act if I'm not mistaken, so there should be a good chance. Thanks for any help, Adam

They have no refund policy but I know they do all sorts of deals for "friends and family", skip the rd call nas (or try at least) directly.

Let us know what happens. I really think it would be wise for them to change this policy. It is really the primary negative comment you hear over and over again that would require little resource to remedy.

Be safe and thanks

I absolutely agree. The right thing would be at minimum a deferment until 2009. Please let us know as this could affect how some of us choose our races.

Regardless of their policy, they should make an exception for anyone in your position. Thanks for your service. Be safe.

I have heard of more than one military request such as yours go with out answer from NAS. They have a STRICT no refund, no transfer policy - I think I have only seen it bent one time ever.

The entry fee is about $500. If 20 of us chip-in $25 a piece, that would cover it. I will pledge $25 if NAS doesn't do the right thing. Do we have 19 others? It's not charity, just a way to say "thanks" to someone making a sacrifice for others.

iamspartacus - thank you so much for that kind offer. But, I did get the response I was hoping for from a woman by the name of Sara from NA sports. She responded by saying that I could choose either to roll the entry to '09 (which I chose) or to get a full refund. She did say that I'll have to provide a letter substantiating my deployment from my CO, but that's a piece of cake. I would like to thank all of you for your advice and hope this provides useful feedback for others in a similar situation. Adam

Re: IM Florida Race Director [hazydavy] [In reply to] Can't Post

Hello, I just got an e-mail response from Ben, the new Race Director for Ironman Florida. He echoed the same sentiments that Sara did - that I can be taken care of. He is a real straight-up guy and is a veteran of 26 years. I hope I can help him/our sport out when I get back by organizing, or even flying the jet for, a fly-over for one of his or any NA Sports event. I of course can't make promisses, but based on jet availability and approval from higher, there's a good chance I can work something out when I'm back in the states. A big thanks once again to NA Sports, especially Sara and Ben!!! Adam

Good wishes to you for your deployment.

Considering the military history of the Panhandle, a flyover at IMFL makes a lot of sense. They used to start the old Blue Angels marathon in Pensacola with one, and it was tres cool.
