IMC "Joggler" Can't Post

There was an article in the local paper today about a guy that plans on "joggling" the run course at IMC.

For those that don't know "joggling" is running while juggling.

His goal, of course, is to be the first.

I am not sure why this annoys the crap out of me, but it does.

By the way, the "rules" of "joggling" (there has to be rules) say that you have to go back to the start if you drop the balls. Would be a damn shame if someone bumped into the dude on mile 19. ;)

Probably because it's along the same lines as the freakshows that end up in almost every marathon.

I think he should have to juggle the entire race... Would make T1 kind of interesting taking off the wetsuit.

I saw the joggler last fall when he joggled the waterfront marathon in Toronto.
It was actually quite impressive, I think he finished under 3:30.

I'm not sure what rules you're reading (do you have a link?), but when I was into juggling and running at the same time (and therefore, dabbled in joggling), the "rule" was that if you dropped or otherwise paused the juggling pattern for some reason, you simply couldn't make forward progress while picking up the dropped ball or taking a break.

The best 3-ball jogglers often will not drop at all during races, and the very best will even complete shorter distances while joggling four, or even five (which is considerably more difficult than either three or four-ball juggling)!

Sorry no link. I claim no special knowledge (nor interest) in joggling.

Aha, I saw him fly by where I was stationed about 5km into the run. He was certainly focused. Wouldn't turn his head or anything.

Ok I must admit that this dude impressed me. I was driving the sag wagon when he passed me at mile 20 on the run, juggling his lit up balls. Very focused and looking as refreshed as most of the people around him. A little strange, but each to his own.

Totally focused. I saw him finish, after dark, and the balls were light up. Then, he dropped them coming towards the finish. We all groaned. He picked them up and made it down the finish chute as far as I know.
