Must be quite challenging to pedal it w/o pedals, eh?

My bike, all-in, probably weighs around 20-ish lbs or so. I honestly don't know.
I honestly don't care.

Weight is nearly irrelevant, especially for a tri bike.
It's not how much it weighs, it's how fast it goes w/ you on it.
I see a timer at every race - I have yet to see a scale.

And even more importantly - it's how fast you can run after having ridden it.

cervelo p3c 16.1 lbs with race wheels (corima disc & h3c front) and an aero water bottle cage/bottle. I changed the bolts and washers to alu and ti, zeroG brakes, Blackwell Concord aero bar/stem, token head set, tuned derailleurs, nokon cables, speedplay x1, triathgel saddle, tiso aero chain ring, and a reynolds aero fork. size 58

I weighed it last year, since then I changed to a zipp sub 9 disc and changed the extensions and pads on the aero bars so I think it's lighter now.

16.1 beat that Plasma owners!

I'd agree with you that weight is irrelevant for most triathlons but when I did silverman, my 23lber kicked my butt. I'm sure I and my legs would have been much happier with a lighter bike.

Re: How much does your Tri Bike weigh? [irodetoday] [In reply to] Can't Post

I have to second what Murphy'sLaw said but just for the record, I have an 04 or 05 QR Tequilo, HED3 clinchers, Pro Race 2s of course ( would love to try the Bonty Aero ones though), PD cobra wing, PD aero bottle and mostly Ultegra SL and DA mixed stuff, plus flat wing (I think) and tubes/tools and it comes in somewhere in the 22-23 lb range (without filled bottles which would add another 4-5 lbs I think). On a hilly or flat course I'll spank most people. Won't beat any pros to the line, but I also train about a quarter as much so I think you can completely take weight out of any real worry. Plus, in addition to my heavy ass bike, my 175 lb heavy ass should make me slow as well. I know it's been reiterated about a billion times, but in anything other than a mountain race, weight will play a fantastically small role. It's not that it doesn't matter, but it doesn't matter a whole lot. Aero and MOST especially your position (well I guess most especially would be your training) are what will play the biggest roles.

That's not fun advice though as you can't generally buy a training +2 module. Oooooh, me thinks we have a new marketing scheme. Sort of the DnD of tri.

Sub 16# or over 20# all Bad Ass.
Mine 18.89#
2005 Litespeed Blade 49cm
Full Dura Ace 10
Reynolds Ouzou Pro Aero
HED bars
Mavic Krysium Elite 650c
Hydrotail and Aero cage
Entire kit will change this week...should loose about 2#
Sram Red every where
Easton bars
Zipp 404 tubulars
Keo carbon HM
Anyway, I know that weight of a Tri bike is "not all that important" but neither is half of the other stuff we talk about here and dream about when were not on Slowtitch.
I just love bikes...especially Tri bikes.
Thanks everyone.

Re: How much does your Tri Bike weigh? [irodetoday] [In reply to] Can't Post

I think most people are using fantasy weight.
My bike got weighed before a tt last week.
Felt DA with SRAM Red, Dura-Ace SRM, Hed Vantage 8 aero bars, Shimano SPD SL pedals, Hed H3 clincher front wheel, Hed Jet clincher disc rear wheel- 8.8 kg or 19.38. lb.
I may have to go back to my Zipp set-up. 808/Zipp disc cuts 1 lb. double 808 cuts 1.3 lb.

My bike is probably not 15lbs like some here...but then I'm about 140lbs so I don't really care...and when you see the impact that 1kg has going up l'Alpe d'Huez, you might be tempted to think like M's Law...who care about weight unless you're racing Embrun??
