Help me mount my new ZIPP crankset...
Can't Post
So I got a sweet deal on a ZIPP 300 crankset for my road bike and now I need to find the right size BB. I've seen Sheldon Brown's stuff about it but I must be dense because it didn't help. Can anyone point me in the right direction? I currently ride a 9 speed Specialized Allez Triple with Specialized branded (square taper 68x118) cranks and triple rings. I just need to know what spindle length I need when switching to a double chainring setup with the ISIS BB required by the ZIPP 300 cranks. Any help is appreciated!

Hi,
You need an ISIS style bb with the narrowest available offering(FSA and Truvativ being most common).
That is typically 108mm long and 68mm bb shell width.
You also need a new Shimano front derailleur made for 2 chainrings, not 3.
Your chain length may/or may not need changing
your rear derailleur is fine
Your STI is fine, just use the first 2 rings of action, block out the third.

Is there a particular reason that I need to go with the narrowest spindle? I just want to make sure that I get the right size, going from 118mm down to 108mm seems like a big jump, but if that's what needs to happen then so be it. What role do chainline considerations play in choice of spindle size?
