Tom and SuperDave,
you might enjoy this fine specimen of Felt bike art. Unfortunately it's not mine, but rather owned by a guy who lives one town over from me and participated in the TransAlp bike marathon with it!
Sorry it's in German only, but I think the pictures speak for themselves!

09 F2? [In reply to] Can't Post

Can someone please be sure to post as soon as an 09 F2 arrives or when specs are released? A shop near me also has one of these F3s and I'm about ready to pounce on it before the alleged price hike. It's right where I'd hope the price to be for a bike equipped like this! But I'm a little concern about the F3's switch to an HM frame. Is this frame really an upgrade over 08, or will the F2 have a much better frame? Anyone know the answer already?

Any help would be awesome. Thanks

I am the proud owner of a 2009 Z25. Shifters and rear derailleur are Sram Red. The front is a Sram Force. The Brakes are Rival. It comes with Mavic Ksyrium Equipe wheels and 700 x 25 tires which is a bit of a puzzle to me on a bike that is so light with interesting components. The cassette is basically a 11-28 Rival and the Sram compact crank is a 50/34. It came with a white seat and bar tape.

Your dealers should have specs right about now, who is your local Felt Dealer?

The '09 HM frame is a huge upgrade over the '08.
The '09 UHM frame is nearly the same as the '08
The '09 UHC-Nano+ is a different material, layup, etc than the '08 UHC.

The only bike that remains the same from '08 to '09 is the F1 Sprint, as the bike was too stiff for most average cyclists last year, and this year, well, its still too stiff for most!

The new 2009 Felt F3SL cuts about 2 pounds off the previous Felt F3

you sure? Unless the web site is fibbing taking 2lbs off would bring this to a 14.37 or thereabouts.

Re: First of the 2009's, New Felt F3SL with photos. [Tom Demerly] [In reply to] Can't Post

You input would be great.

I'm about to pull the trigger on a new bike and have narrowed my search to include; Scott Addict R4 (52), Felt F3 SL (52), and the Felt Z15 (51)

I liked the Z-15 geometry but would rather spend less. The reason I've moved to look at the Addict R4 and F3 SL.

BTW - my current bike is a Cannondale 3.0 allum. (Circa 1989) that weighs in at 21.5 pounds.

I'm most concerned about selecting the right geometry for my riding style, and I know that a short test ride will not answer the difficult question of how I will feel on this bike after 2,3,4 or 6 hours. I do small-time mini-tri events, and ride with buddies regularly at a pace of roughly 18 MPH over 2 or 3 hours. I'm a relatively small frame, just under 5' 9" and 140 pounds, so the bike's weight and responsiveness is important as well as comfort over the regular 40 mile rides with an occasional century.

I also looked at the Z25 but felt it's weight was too high and that the F3 SL would be a better selection.

Where did you get your bike?

Can you also send a photo of the front derailleur to me?

Our HM frame is now stiffer than in previous years on the F series bikes and lighter on the Z series bikes. The frame using the HM material has had further optimization of the lay up as well as some refinements to the design itself.

How about on the '09 B12? I have an '08 F4 and '08 B12, and if I recall correctly, they're both HM carbon. Personally, I tihnk the '08 HM carbon strikes a very nice balance between stiffness and rideability :)

'09 B12 has no significant difference except the 58 and 60cm got a bit stiffer.

Check the front derailleur again, I think it is SRAM Red.

Thanks,

Re: 09 F2? [SuperDave] [In reply to] Can't Post

Thanks SuperDave! That's good to hear about that F3 frame! Because I found out the F2 will be closer to $5500 with the expensive new Dura Ace. That made my decision easy and I got the F3. And the F3 is an unbelievably sublime ride, SRAM Red shifters and all. I'm intrigued by exactly how Felt made such a flawless (and beautiful) "entry" level frame!

Re: 09 F2? [mruser] [In reply to] Can't Post

Production development of the F-carbon frames started in 2004 with some experienced guys guiding the process here. Since that time continual developments have been made at the high end of the spectrum whilst trickling the previous versions down to less expensive platforms.

The F3 is probably one of the best thought out bikes we've released. The '09 frame is as light and stiff as the original F1c, and the performance of the mixed RED group offers nearly identical performance to a homogenous RED package.

I'm glad you were able to find one of the first F3SLs, they have sold out of our warehouse at an alarming rate.

Enjoy,
