East Lansing trail runs??
Can't Post
Anyone know of any good trails to run in the East Lansing area? I will be there the weekend of the 26th and wanted to do a long run off-road. I have noticed that a lot of shoe reviewers for running magazine live in East Lansing, where do they run when they are testing trail shoes.
Thanks
Thom

I would call Playmakers Sports in Okemos. I'm sure they could point you in the right direction.

Instead of a trail run, you could run a nice out and back along the Red Cedar River. Go Spartans!

Baker Wood Lot on the southeast corner of Farm Lane and Service Road has a good trail, but it's only in the ball park of 1.5-2 miles per loop.
There is also a paved running trail from East Lansing to the state capitol building in downtown Lansing. It follows the Red Cedar River and is something like 6-7 miles each way.
The MSU Running club is also hosting a trail race at Grand Woods Park in Lansing in early November. I've never run there, so I can't tell you what it's like, but it's apparently worthy of a race.

Trails at Lake Lansing North are probably the best ones in the area, I run them all the time. Just take Lake Lansing Road east until you run into the lake, then turn north(left). You'll follow the lake for a bit and the entrance is on your left. Theres a bunch of different length trails, longest being 3.8 miles
