"Douglas" bikes made by Litespeed?	Can't Post

OK... this is the fourth time that I've heard that the "Douglas" bikes sold by Colorado Cyclist are made by Litespeed in their Chattanooga factory. I always thought that they were Taiwanese-built. Anyone know more about this?

Litespeed does not make Douglas Frames for Colorado Cyclist. I THINK they are made in Taiwan.

I've got one. Do a search for titanium sports, this company makes alot of ti stuff and they sell bikes frames on their web site. The ti frames they sell look like a douglas to me. I don't think they are made outr of the U.S. since Colorado Cyclist syas they are made in the USA in their catalog.

The aluminum Douglas may be made outside the USA but my neighbor has one and it rides nicer than my old 'dale.

I always thought they were made by "TST." I think that is the name at leat, and they are somewhere in the NW, like Oregon or Washington. They make/have made titanium bikes for people for sometime and are considered good quality to the best of my knowledge.

Although this seasons Douglas frames are not made by Litespeed it is quite likely next years will.

When people make posts with a tiny bit of tantalizing information, that is not substantiated or elaborated upon, it makes you wonder why.

It's a little curious Wallaby - you registered yesterday and this is your only post, so it looks like you registered to make that little comment under another name, or maybe you have more information that you'd like to share with us.

Personally, I think you're bs'ing, but I'd be curious to hear more because I'm in the market for a titanium bike and was looking at the Litespeeds.

I don't know where the aluminum douglas frames are made though

You can buy direct from them, however, I think they are left over frames made for Mongoose hence the 1" steerer. They are regarded as quality frames. I would suggest also checking out Habanero cycles if you want titanium. I have thought of buying from both TS and Habanero but then I really don't have any need for a titanium bike either . . . .

I apologize for the vagueness of my reply. Yes, I have been lurking on this board for the past 6 months without ever posting. I created this user ID for the sole purpose of replying to this thread (this is the first ID I have ever created). My motive for this post is simple. This is the first thread I have had relevant information to contribute to. I live in Colorado Springs and worked for the cyclist for a few years years. I know the folks who run the business.

I didn't contribute more information to the post because I don't know much more than what I said originally. Litespeed does not currently make Douglas frames but CC would like them to. I assume Litespeed would like to make them as well. I don't know where the discussions currently are but I believe it likely that Litespeed will soon begin making the Douglas frames.

On a side note, I love my LS Blade. However if having a straight frame is important to you, I would look elsewhere. Most of the Litespeeds I have seen are not straight (although how far out of "true" a frame can acceptably be is a whole other thread).

Again, I apologize for my previous brief and unsubstantiated post. It was not my intention to get anyone all fired up with it.
