Cateye double wireless
Can't Post
I've been using the cateye double wireless all summer and have had nothing but problems. It mounts on the chainstay and the cadence works fine. However everytime I'm hammering on the pedals the magnet hits the sensor (I guess because the frame is flexing?). If I increase the distance between the sensor and the magnet it's not even remotely accurate.
I'm 2 weeks out from my first IM and I'm fed up with this thing. Should I be worried about trying new equipment at this point in the game? Has anyone else had this problem?

We experienced the same problem - Shimano wheels flex under pressure.
Place the spoke magnet on the opposite side to normal i.e magnet on same side as cassette.
This worked!

Ok, it's not the frame. I assumed the rear triangle could move a couple mm. Something is giving somewhere because I've moved the magnet out from 1mm to probably 4mm and it still hits. The wheels are hed 3 so it's carbon fiber all around (frame is QR Seduza). Any ideas?

Dumb question, but if the Hed 3 mounted perfectly straight. I run a Hed 3 on the front and I know mine is more finicky than my training wheels to get aligned properly when clamping the quick releases. When you spin your wheel on the stand does it roll without any wobble?
I've been using the cateye double wireless for years and it's always performed fine. Eats batteries quicker than most units, but that's it.
Side note: I've recently been running a Hed jet disc on the rear for races and had to increase the gap between the received and the magnet as a result of wheel clearance. It wouldn't always pick up the signal being that far apart so I had to get a rare earth magnet (same size, just more powerful) and it works fine.

I had nothing but problems with mine. In the space of 8 months, I went through at least 4 batteries. The thing would constantly lose it's connection, so my numbers would be all messed up. On the average 40 mile ride, it would say 36-37 miles. Took it back to LBS to ensure it was operating correctly and they always said it was fine. Eventually, I ust gave up on it and went with a cheap Cateye wired model. It's a shame too...I really like having the 4 screens of data...when it worked.

I've had some issues with Cateye Double wireless too but this sounds like an issue with the rear wheel. My buddy has a new set of Hed3C's and the rear wheel kept messing up on him. It would rub on the brakes pads and even once on the frame. He sent it back three times and they repaired it and then it happened again and they gave him a new wheel.
Not sure if this helps or muddies the water. I hope it all goes well with the upcoming race.
