Cadence with Forerunner 305 Can't Post

So I get a cadence reading when I run indoors with my footpod attached with my Forerunner. When I run outdoors I don't run with the footpod but I also don't get a cadence reading. Is it only possible to get a cadence reading with the footpod? Are there any hiccups caused by using the footpod while outdoors? Seems like the one time I ran with the footpod outdoors it confused the device.

I run with the footpod all the time indoors or outdoors. The 305 will favor the GPS for pace when available and just use the footpod for cadence. I guess theoretically it's also supposed to revert to using the footpod for distance if you lost gps signal... but I don't notice it actively doing that.

It shouldn't "confuse" anything, but it will prompt you that the footpod was detected and ask if you want to switch to indoor mode. Just say No and you're good to go.

Give it a shot...
