Bonty Speed Bottle on TTX ST or DT?
Can't Post
Got a TTX and a Bontrager Speed Bottle. Is it better to place it on the down tube or seat tube?
Also, I found it interesting that the Bonty bottle mounts pretty high on teh tube...unlike the Specialized Virtue, which sits at the bottom like the P4. Do you think it would be beneficial to drill new holes and mount it lower?

Hey applenut, don't have an answer to your question, but am interested in your opinion of the TTX sometime if you have a chance...What were you on before and how does the TTX compare??? BTW, well done on another great season of racing in the SCTS!

Cool, thanks. I'll let you know how much I like it after Clearater ; )
Actually I really like the TTX. I was on a P3C, but find the TTX to be a better fit for me. Less drop, but still fast and more powerful later in my rides. It rides straight as an arrow as well. Trek did a great job with the steering geometry as it seriously stays straight.
One of my favorite features is the fully housed cables through the bike. Shifting is much better than the Cervelo. I had to constantly clean and replace cables and housing on the P3 due to sweat/salt deposits. The TTX shifts like a dream.
Thakns again!!
I got a reply from Trek customer service that says mounting the Speed Bottle on the dowtube is more aero...

Hey Applenutt,
Damion on biketechreview forums once posted the exact data, but as I recall the seat tube and down tube were pretty close in performance when using one bottle. Using two bottles was even better.
Really though, I would search over at btr.com's forum and get the word strait from the horse's mouth.

i was recomended by the trek folks to use it on the down tube...
i did some work on one holder to have the bottle right between the seat and down tube like the P4

I would do it on the down tube and re-drill the holes in the holder to slide the bottle closer to the bottom by the bracket, well that is what I did with my P2C, it almost fills the complete V shape,
hey can you post some pics of your bike or should I PM you my email address.
Good luck at clearwater

Thanks. I'll post a pic later today. I'm thinking of doing the same thing you and the Sergio have done...drilling new holes to mount lower on the frame.
