Bjorn 6th at swedish national TT
Can't Post
Another nice showing for Bjorn Andersson with a 6th place finish at his national TT. 51km apparently, and probably a bit of climbing as well given the winning average speed.
1 Fredrik Ericsson (Team Cykelcity) 1.06.14.8 (46.2 km/h)
2 Gustav Larsson (Skoghalls CK - Hammarö/Team CSC) 0.25.3
3 Thomas Lövkvist (Team Cykelcity/Team High Road) 0.33.7
4 Johan Lindgren (Team Cykelcity) 2.04.2
5 Marcus Ljungqvist (Falu CK/Team CSC) 2.30.7
6 Björn Andersson (Borås CA) 3.04.6

FYI, the winner posted on the wattage forum (which confirms the hilliness, but also provides some nice power numbers):
I just got home from the national (swedish) TT championships today and still have my Power Control in the team bus (so no WKO data) and havn't read your whole article yet. BUT, this is very interesting and could answer a question that arised among the medalists after the race...
51km rather hilly course (200m difference in altitude between lowest and highets point):
1. Fredrik Ericsson, CK Cykelcity.se, 1:06,15 (76kg and 405W avg)
2. Gustav Larsson, Team CSC, 1:06,40 (77-78km, no data but usually TT's at around 420-440W)
3. Tomas Lövkvist, Team High Road 1:06,47 (71-72kg and 419W avg)

It will be interesting to see Bjorn's power output. If he was at his usual 80kilos, then he may have won the biggest power award. I'm guessing he was the biggest guy out there, but you never know, some of those Sweed's are pretty big for bike racers...Hopefully he got through this years race without a flat, like last years....Come on Bjorn, RR on the TT here.....

Still waiting for a RR Bjorn, and give us a little bit of inside info on your Lake Placid prep. Maybe you have been on a plane on your way over here....

I'm surprised Gustav Larssen didn't win! I'm a fan of his. Fine rider.

How does he handle the hillier TTs? Perhaps it was a wheel choice issue given the fairly low average speed.

What really matters on ST is who puts up the biggest wattage number...it is like Bench press in high school....now if I could just push 400W for more than a minute....OK back to my small guy 250W world...that's like a Zone negative 1, single leg drill for Bjorn!
Good luck to Bjorn at IMLP!

Interesting that the winner had a substantially lower power/weight average (than 3rd place, at least), especially considering the course hilliness. He must have superior positioning and/or pacing. Assuming no mishaps, bike swapping, etc, by his competitors.

I can't wait to see how he does at Placid. I can think of many reasons that would be awesome! Bjorn's a class act.

I'm a bit dissapointed by this years race actually as I felt in great TT shape a couple of weeks ago but simply haven't been able to hold on to that since. very hilly TT course so maybe not the best for me against guys who have recently finished top 5 overall in hilly races like Tour of Switzerland either. No power numbers from me but I imagine with my weight and drag nr handicap I might have been up there in terms of wattage.
The road race wasn't the best either since Larsson(CSC) crashed in front of me on the steep climb with 50km to go and I rode straight into him and crashed as well. Got some problems with my front brake and then that was that..

Larsson was 13th overall in the Giro this year I think so he handles hills pretty well for his size and though the TT was hilly it's no problem for someone like him. Part of the reason he might not have won was the shitty road quality on the course. It was by far the crappiest asphalt road I've been on with holes and bumps in the surface all over the road for about 25miles of it. The guy who won lives up there and have been training on the course a lot so knowing where to ride and how to avoid the biggest bumps might have played into it a bit though he also rode extremely well on that day of course.

I'm feeling brave today so I thought I'd post a few pics from last weeks bike racing if anyone is interested. To cover myself from the most obvious mistakes I do know that;
* I forgot to tape the valve hole on the disk.
* The rear brake cable is too long.
* I'm riding slow tires.
* I need a haircut.
* Seat is too high.
* The radio on my back could be more aerodynamic.
I'm sure there are tons more stuff that I've missed but I'm certain the collective wisdom of Slowtwitch will step in and point them out in no time.. :-)

Go faster you slow f***...
Seriously though, for the TT they're just telling splits and general advice like what gear to be in plus course info etc.

3rd place had slower equipment than the top 2 guys who were both on P3C versus his Giant. Don't know if that accounts for the whole power difference but should play into it a bit. Plus we also don't know how well the power meters were calibrated.

I'll bite....what's with the water bottle....I thought this is just a bit over an hour in rather temperate Sweden...you need to go on the Kenyan runner program which calls for zero water or nutrition on any workout shorter than 2 hours :-) :-) :-)

If you don't mind I was wondering what your vo2max is. It would also be cool if you could give us some of your stats. So we can get an idea of what it is like to be a world class cyclist!
