She is local to the area and very seasoned rider. She can post fast times if good conditions.

I am local to NYC, so I am thinking of running on the field during a Giants game to challenge Justin Tuck to a fight.

Only if it's good conditions though.

I hear conditions were excellent inside the pelotons. Hardly any headwind. ;)

Why can't it be their aero wheels, aero position, better training methods, aero bikes, lighter bikes, better nutrition? Or I guess it could be improved paceline rotation ;)

Re: Bike splits @ Clearwater? [derek5] [In reply to] Can't Post

There were plenty of packs but it is hard to put blame on any rider who may or not have been drafting without actually seeing them in a pack. The female rider has won her age group at more than one 70.3 race so it is possible. I will be the first to tell you the packs were large across the board pros included. The only way to really answer the question is to strictly enforce the rules but the WTC does not want that. The times were fast which is what the WTC wants so the times of the 50-54 and 55-59 womens group will be questioned but the times of the mens 50-54 and mens 55-59 not questioned. It was an extremely fast day.

What's the local seasoning in Florida? Spicy cajun?
I need that for next week!

This thread has made me laugh, it was definitely well seasoned, and I deem it to be in good condition.

it's crap like these splits that is killing triathlon for me.

It's hard to tell what an outstanding personal performance really is these days. Even the honest racers that are balls out fast come under question because of the draftinh in races like CW.

Well, with bike splits for the fast Pro men at above 28 mph I am guessing that something fishy is going on, you be the judge what that could be. ;o)

What a stupid race
That is why so many people decline their spots for this race when they "qualify".
World Championships on that piece of crap course is a joke
So there

That kind of speed in a peleton is not that astonishing.

Re: Bike splits @ Clearwater? [Lar Dog] [In reply to] Can't Post

Man, I do not get the hate for this race. The course is what the course is, but it is still a race. Is the bike portion attenuated some becasue of the drafting, yes it is, but everyone knows the story. Look at the results, the very fastest US and international age groupers are always at the top, so like everything else the cream seems to rise regardless of the challenges the day brings. This is probably the second most competitve age group race in the world after Kona, and maybe even more competitive because the 1/2 is accessable to everyone, and there just some people who can't or won't translate to a full iron distance. Like it or not it is a legit world championship race, more legitimate than anything ITU puts on. And I'll tell you what, put this race in Lubbock or San Deigo, or any place else and you are still going to have drafting issues becasue there are going to be lots of wicked fast, wicked competitive people jamming thier assess off - and those kinds of people can typically also ride hills just fine.

They had good conditions back in May when she went 2:34 @ florida 70.3. So good conditions too yesterday and she goes 2:22? That's an extreme gain in speed in 5 mos.
