In a related story, Alberto Contador just jumped off a bridge.

I'm not sure Johan will throw out his winning strategy... they'll have their team leader before they start the first TT.

I'm sure Johan will try to screw contador
but that doesn't mean contador can't win anyway!

It could be country against country this year: The Armstrong, Leipheimer, CVV combine against Contador, Sastre, Valverde.
Who needs trade teams? ;-0)

actually I think Astana asked to be able to enter 3 teams. One for Contador, one for Armstrong and as a darkhorse Levi and friends.

I suppose Kloden could make a case too. Has Ullrich been out training? Then add the Italians and Aussies into the fray and let 'em go at it.

My thought goes to the podium and revenge worth fighting for:
1st: Armstrong
2nd: Contador
3rd: Leipheimer
... or any variation on the sweep theme.

What will be funny is when the Astana train hit the slopes of one of the first big mountains and they get down to the three final guys on the team and the Lance , Levi and Alberto all just look at each other and say: "Now who's turn is it to pull?"
Let us run with perseverance the race set out for us.

Is something like this even possible?! I suppose it could be, considering that we've seen two members of the same team on the podium before. But, wow, it's still hard to imagine that it can happen. Jebus! The TdF will be fun to watch this summer!

I am not a bug Johan fan, but give him enough credit to have this sorted out well in advance.

Armstrong will win both the Giro and Le Tour. He will silence all critics.

I will be cheering for him to win both, but don't think he will win the Tour if Contador is on form.

I offered a $50 bet to all takers that armstrong will not win the 2009 TDF if he makes the starting line.
That is still on the table, anyone wishing to make the bet, do so in the following thread so I can find it:

If I lose I will pay everyone via paypal. If I win you can pay me however you want!

It will be a good race, the Tour has always been good with or without Lance. But I don't think an in form Contador will have a chance against an in form Armstrong. No way.

Lance, Contador, Leipheimer, Kloden 4 man TTT from start to finish. No mercy. You heard it here first ;-)

My totally uneductaed prediction:
LA will train to win the Giro. (Not saying he will actually win, but just that it will be his goal and focus of his training.) Then he'll go to the Tour to support Contador. Given that Contador was forced to sit out the Tour last year, I don't see Astana making him wait another full year for a shot at the win. Having LA be the team lead for the Giro is the most suitable compromise.

1st- Contador
2nd- Evans
3rd-Armstrong
Levi breaks top ten. Lance is old and kind of sad and annoying now.

# 1: Levi wins because Contador and Armstrong are watching each other
# 2: Armstrong because he's a better time trialist
# 3: Contador
# 4: Klodden
# 5: That funny bald guy from Bend who decides to help Levi again
# 6: Popo
# 7: Sastre
# 8: Evans
# 9: Basso

you are fooling yourself if you think Lance isn't going to at least try to win the race. he might not win, but as the Badger said, if someone else wins he will have to "prove that he is worthy of the win"...

My uneducated prediction :)
The one and only reason Lance is coming back is to win the TDF
