What do you think?

How loud is it? http://www.treamilldoctor.com rates the noise level as the best available (10 out of 10), yet the one I run on is noisey as anything, I can't even hear the TV at max volume.

Anyone have a different experience?

I don't, but a friend of mine does. It is awesome. Sure, it is a bit loud, but you can hear the tv or your ipod fine if you turn the volume up a bit. I certainly don't think it is louder than any other treadmill. Besides, who really cares about loudness in comparison with everything else. Running on a woodway is incredible. It doesn't use a belt, it uses the "tank tread." The tread has a thin but soft track-like covering on each "link." It is so smooth. Plus the motor is very strong, so it builds to speed quickly and stays super consistent. It is so superior to every other treadmill I've ever run that it's really quite astounding. It's close to double the price, but it's markedly better than anything else.

The issue is the new baby on the way. i'll be doing a lot more running on the treadmill and don't want to plunk down that kind of $$ only to have the Woodway wake the little one up everytime I go to run on it.

I thought it was funny that treadmilldoctor.com would give it the highest rating when my experience has been that they are pretty load treadmills. Might have to build a shed like your friend.

Any noise is a pretty steady white noise. Said friend also has a new baby, and she sleeps just fine with the treadmill on. It's not like a loud stereo; it's more like a loud fan.

I have one in my store. Very nice machine. No malfunction in 5 years of constant use. If you run on it at 12 km/h it is not really loud. That is unless you have exspected a silent treatmill... and I think there is none.

I agree that it is one of the finest machines available.

I do about 40% of my miles on a woodway. Trust me, even if you have to trade the kid in order to, get this treadmill. It's no noisier then any other, although if it needs to be tuned up so to speak then it can be loud. I'd almost rather not run on any other treadmill.

Was interesting that I could not find prices on their web site. Not a good sign. Guess if you have to ask,
you should not be looking.

I think they start about $8-9k. It would be a much better investment for the average triathlete then an aero bike and Zipp wheels, if they used it of course.

I've run on them at my health club. They don't seem any noisier than the others.

I like the way they feel.

I saw one used on ebay for 2.5K.

Luckily it does not rain too often in Calif, even though it sure has been raining a lot lately,
that I can get my runs out on a cross country course for free.

It is loud even the newer ones, but it is the greatest treadmill. I used to work for a hospital owned fitness center that had two old Woodway(7 - 10 years old) that were l really loud, but ran great. Many miles by sweaty runners were logged on these Woodways. If I had $10,000 to spend on a treadmill, the Woodway would be placed in my living room. Newer Woodways are loud, but I can easily the sound of the treadmill with music.

I can run 15 - 18 miles on a Woodway, but my body and back hurts if I run over 6 on any other treadmill.

FWIW, I think the noise is similar in volume but much lower in pitch than most treadmills -- i.e., less intrusive.

The one I have run on is spectacular. Feels a lot more like running on the road than on any other treadmill.
