I walk in at 11pm last night, after a long day of travel and a drive in the dark of NY state, to see this:
and then this:

The bar, a solid piece of marmalade pine and plywood engineering (there's a monstrous beer cooler underneath it - amen), and:
Note the discoball above the pool table... but wait there's more:
The bear guards the kitchen apparently...
and lastly:
Note the xmas decoration that still adorns Bambi...
This place is AWESOME!

Why did great white hunter kill the cat in the first picture?? Secondly why would someone mount such a savage creature, and display it for all to laugh at.

That's nothing.
Here in PA I live about 200 yds from a golf course that has a restaurant called the
Safari Bar
.
The owner is an avid hunter and has travailed the world, literally, to kill things then bring them back to NW PA and put them on the wall of his restaurant. They have good food but when you come in the door you are greeted by three stuffed bears (Polar, Grizzly and Black) and the walls are literally lined with hundreds of animals including:
Elephant (head only right above a table).
Lions, zebras, alligator, elk, deer, moose, cape buffalo and dozens and dozens of antelope/gazelle looking creatures.
Here's some pic's from their website showing about 1/3 of what he has on his walls:
It's not a place to take a vegetarian for dinner, that's for sure.

Where the heck are you staying? My house is at the other end of the county; far deeper into the huntin' and fishin' zone and I never even heard of a place like that!
Good luck in the race. I wish I could be there but I have medical issues to attend to.

Take it easy on the bike loop especially for the LC folks...
BTW for all my ST roomates, would I be able to get a ride to LC start Sunday morning so my wife and daughter can "sleep in"?

First picture looks like a pine marten.
About a week and a half ago, I was setting up for my long run on Long Meadow Road in Orange Co, NY, right across the state line from New Jersey. A mother bear and Three good size cubs ran across the road in front of me. Second time this year I almost hit a bear with a car, in the middle of the day.
AP, make sure all the bears you see around there are stuffed, you might get a little surprise otherwise.

Ah, taking squirrels out is a dime a dozen activity this time of year.
Really gotta watch out for the deer, since they are dumber than a box of rocks, and can take *you* out along with them.
Looks like a fun place.

Tell Chad not to leave his race out there in the taper week. I think that was part of his issues last yr.
(if it's too late, well then, that's one less dude I hafta worry about on Sunday)

My first thought on seeing those pictures is that you may be giving them too much credit as hunters. It could be stuffed road kill. Oh, and the lion got waxed by the semi when it escaped from the traveling circus or the local zoo. ;-)
