But alas, the gods of murphy's law have interrupted my best layed holiday plans.
We get an epic dumping of snow for southern ontario just before christmas. I think, "sweet, xcountry skiing boxing day and monday".
We get home from my parents on christmas day night after being gone two days and the house is about 50degrees. Something blew and we had no heat and no hot water. Call the gas people, call the furnace people, "we'll have someone there between 10 and 5 tomorrow", and we can get someone there between 10 and 2 on monday. So we hang around on boxing day, guy shows up, ventilation motors blown, but "gee I don't have that part on my truck. we'll have to order it". Anyhoo, this stretches all the way to wednesday evening before it is finally all fixed, and then what happens? It freaking warms up to 40+ and starts raining and all the snow either disappears or turns to slush! The two places we go now say they'll be lucky if they can get the trails groomed and save them unless more snow flies. I'm praying for some cold weather tonight and clear skies tomorrow so we can at least salvage one day on the skis. grrrrrr!!!!
On the bright side we got some much needed home renos done while we were waiting around for the repair guys and their parts, so at least it wasn't a total loss, and the gf and i found out we can work together on that stuff with out totally killing each other!
