Well, since we are on the hotel California theme, I view training in the same way...on a glorious day you can love it....or a bike commute home in the rain in just above freezing rain, you wish you are in the car....."You can check out any time you like....but you can never leave..."
Glad to hear that you get some solace from the solitude of training. It can be therapeutic. I understand it is a tough day that you are going through, however, I will never claim to even understand a fraction of your pain. Good luck in Kona....may the wind Gods put lift under your wings.
All the best. When I bike commute tonite, I'll remember your pain. Funny thing is that as a parent, I am sure there are many here who feel for you and your extended family. They just might not post.

Wow, wish I saw this back in June!
Based on your final scoring I am at 192 pts. I rode to & from work 50 times (100pt), and logged an additional 20 1-way trips (20 pt). Each trip is 6mi, so I get another 720mi or 72 points. WOW! That's alot better than I actually expected!
Great idea!

Edit: I still have Today, Friday, Monday and Tuesday too! Awesome! That should net me another 8-10 or so points ;-)

Okay, two day left. If you have not been updating the spreadsheet please do so. Also note I added two new columns to the spread sheet.
Total Miles: This is the total miles you commuted during the challenge
Gallons: Divide you total miles by the mpg for you car.
I would like to tally the total gallons of gasoline we saved as a group by doing this challenge. It will be an example of community organizing for all the Repubilcans who don't know what a community organizer is (they sure know what a lobbyist is though).

Updated, looks like, currently, I am a lock for 4th.
Why not add a money saved (although it's not much) but I'm still curious
(I believe I ended up saving around 90$, so that's 270$ for the year, not bad)

I would happily update if I had access, I promise I can boost the total a bit.

I'll go in and update my spreadsheet, and although I did bike a reasonable number of miles, I was by no means carbon neutral during the period, even though my bike miles far exceeded my car miles...the problem was that I had 2 business trips to Korea-Japan-China and one triathlon trip to British columbia for Ironman Canada....needless to say, I'd likely have to ride continuously for 5 years to get even with all that burn't fuel over northern canada and the pacific in an aircraft!
EDIT: I got 10 weeks when I bike commuted during this thing...looks like I saves a few gallons! Thanks for organizing!
