I found out about this race yesterday and it sound absolutely amazing.

Yes, probably incredibly painful and not necessarily the best idea for someone at sea level to go up and race at the Continental Divide but after having spent several years living and working in Colorado this race sounds incredible. As it turns out, I have to be in Vail that weekend anyway for a wedding where I'm a bridesmaid. Assuming I didn't kill myself I could be in Vail right in time for the rehearsal dinner on Saturday! :)
Ok, probably not the best idea to have a bridesmaid hobbling down the aisle the day after the race but it still looked pretty cool so I'm pretending for another 30 minutes that it would be totally feasible before I let reality sink in. ...sigh...

I was looking at this race for next year.
I say do it. You only go around once and you'd have some killer stories for the reception.

BTW - I once went to a friend's wedding on Orcas Island on a Saturday afternoon, stayed at the reception until 10:00pm, took the ferry home and got up a 5 am and did a 50k. I had a great run because I knew I was going to suck at it and so I was totally relaxed. My friend was happy because I was at her wedding and I was happy because I got to run. It was a win win

JJ - I think it would be helpful if you would post your run volume totals for the past 10 weeks. I want everyone to know how prepared we are to start our ramp to 100 mile weeks during our build phase. :)

Hush Bryan...Hush...do run volumes really matter?
Sadly I just don't think I'll be able to swing it. I'm worried that I'd end up either getting injured or being late and not being able to make the rehearsal dinner. The wedding is actually for the friend I used to live with in Vail and if I wasn't in the wedding I'd totally sign CenterMiddy and myself up for it but being in it - in all my beautiful pink taffita gown glory - just makes it a little harder to swing. Maybe next year...

From the male perspective, if I did that as a groomsman and wasn't able to walk the next day the groom would be killing himself laughing at me.
