5 days past due date
Can't Post
My wife is 5 days past her due date and she is starting to drive herself crazy. We have stopped answering the phone due to the large number of calls from people curious to know what is happening.
We have been going out to eat spicy foods. We have been going on long walks. I have been giving her acupresure in areas that are supposed to encourage contractions.
Any advice as to what else we can do?
Saw the OB yesterday and he said the baby is at zero station and 50% effaced so we are moving in the right direction.

Sex and nipple stimulation also increase contractions. Sounds like you are doing everything you can. Good Luck! Try to get some good quality sleep. Let us know when it happens.

Wait and have your wife be sure to get some rest. My 1st was 10 days late. The one thing I regret was not getting enough sleep the two days before delivery, I was in light labor for two days and should have rested way more before the serious labor began.

Baby will come when it is ready, or 10 days past due and you're induced.
Enjoy the last moments of peace and quiet you will have for 20 something years.

semen has prostoglandins. gets things going....
accupuncture/pressure has been shown to cause contractions, but not cervical change - stop doing it - it will just get her tired.

Several years ago, there was an Eggplant Parmigana recipe that allegedly caused women to go into labor 24 hours later. Here's a link to the recipe:
http://www.wchstv.com/...plantparmigian.shtml
(BTW, even if it doesn't get labor started, it should be tasty.)
Another thought: When I was expecting, my pedicurist wouldn't massage my ankles because she said there was some pressure point there that might cause labor to start. Your wife might enjoy a pedicure, right?

I'm a librarian, so when it looked like my baby was going to be late, a few of my colleagues discussed sending an overdue notice.

Dear __Cynthia Hesse:
Landlord's Name
I received your notice to vacate the premises and this is
to inform you that I consider your action to be retaliatory.
The Oregon Landlord-Tenant Law provides that a landlord may
not decrease services or threaten to bring an eviction or evict a tenant for retaliatory purposes(ORS 5321.02).
I am using my right to respond within 7 days to your accusations based on ORS 32.372 establishing a cooling off period for disputes.
Your concern for delinquent rent payments may have some substance. However, my earning potential is somewhat limited due to the living conditions of the current residence that you manage. First of all the only exit available seems to be locked. I have been facing it waiting for some sign of opening for 41 weeks now. I appreciate the constant supply of food and nutrients that you have been providing, but don’t think that it makes up for the lack of a decent view. I would be concerned a fire, but I do seem to be completely surrounded by water. For these reasons, I am asking for some lenience regarding the delinquent rent. I would like to defer my payments for about 16 years. If your money is needed sooner, you will need to relocate to a country with less restrictive labor laws. I hear there is some good money to be made by 4 year olds in the shoe industry in Asia.
You have complained about my “expansion project”. Perhaps if you were to provide a residence with more than just a studio arrangement I would not need to push the borders. I find that lately the only comfortable position is entirely inverted. Contrary to the dark conditions you keep me in, I am not a bat.
Next you reference a ten-month term of occupancy. I understand that I caught you off guard when I made my presence known. I know that right after I moved in you were truly sickened with me. Your panicked sprints to the bathroom did not go unnoticed. However, you failed to obtain my signature on any agreement in reference to my stay. Based on ORS 28.764 after I have occupied for more than a month, I am considered a squatter and have the right to stay until I exit the premises. I believe that there is some paperwork that will need my footprint on as soon as I vacate, which I will only comply with kicking and screaming.
Your final complaint was about my presence disrupting your sleep. I find this a patently irresponsible allegation. You should put down that stone until you realize the consequences to those enchiladas that you crave so much. You stated that I adversely impacted your plumbing. Well that plumbing is routed right by my ear as I nap. The constant rumbling of your Mexican food obsession was cute at first, but now I am prepared to distance myself from this constant distraction.
Thank you for your attention to this matter. If I don’t hear from you soon, you will force me to address this with you face to face.
Sincerely,
____NA_____________

I hope all has happened for you. We still await. 10 days overdue and counting. We are getting impatient but really want to do this naturally.
Baby monitored today. Heart rate is slow (like dads) but has always been. Placenta is great. Still some water available. They are letting us go on. I am ready now. So is my wife.
The lifeguardsat the pool know me well now. I walk in, shake my head and hand them my cell phone. They will answer it for me then come to my lane if needed. Everyone at work had bets on the date he would show. Everyone lost.
This kid is going to have a hard time in college if he is still in the womb.

This will be of no help but this thread really took me back 27 years ago and if nothing else maybe I can make you laugh. The Spousal Unit went to the OB/GYN and was told all hope of natural delivery was gone and that it was going to be a C Section set for about a week later. She was told to stay off her feet because she was getting toxemia so of course she went to the mall and walked around. The first law of the “Tao of the Spousal Unit” is that you don’t tell her what to do. For the second and third laws, please see the first.
I had been living the clean life for several weeks but when informed that the C Section was on for the next week and that she was not close, let’s see, how can I put this, okay, I got trashed. Five minutes after I got into bed the Spousal Unit gets up, goes into the bathroom and her water breaks. Off to the hospital we go at 1:30 AM and it is snowing like a mother outside with about 6 inches accumulation when we left the house. I get to a red light and stop. She yells: “Run the fucking the light!” I say: “I can’t, I’m drunk.” She says: “Run the fucking light!” I run the fucking light. 5 hours later our first daughter was born and I had a hangover. Somehow, it all made sense.
4 years later she was in natural childbirth doing the rare V-back delivery (not even sure they do it anymore after a C-section) and a classic moment occurs when the doctor comes in and tells the delivery nurse - “she is a V-back, make sure she does not explode.” Of course she went into labor early and I had a brief due in the Supreme Court the next day. It was pretty much done but I had to dictate a few small things and clean some stuff up between contractions on a speaker phone (no Internet or broadband back then kids) while the entire office listened in. But as they say, that is another story.
Good luck to all. When they grow up right it is amazing and a pleasure. You are in for one hell of a ride.
