My wife and I are expecting in April, so with Christmas right around the corner, I was get here something she'll need. I was thinking of getting her a breast pump. Any suggestions on a good model to get?

That sounds like the worst Christmas present ever. You may want to run this by The Womens to see if they agree.

And I thought Yahey was the biggest moron around these parts.
Why not just buy her a hammer so she can bash in your noggin with it because if you buy her a breast pump, she will be looking for one.
Nothing says I love you like a breast pump.

Yea while you are at it get her a vacuum cleaner.
One Christmas my dad gave my mom an iron and a cookie jar, to this day he has to pay for that.

I hope you're not serious? I am telling ya right now that would be about the stupidest thing to get her. Get something for HER to enjoy.
It's post like these that make me realize those people on Jerry Springer might actually "be for real".

THe next several years are going to be about that baby. Make this Christmas about her. I suggest jewelry. Her hands may be swollen, so no rings. The baby will yank out earrings and tug at a necklace, so maybe go with a nice bracelet. As a general rule it's not a good idea to give appliances as gifts. Unless someone wants to give me one of these:

Do her a real favor and get her a heavy duty garbage disposal too so she can chop up your bones once she kills you with the breast pump.

You know Katy, I actually did that 10 years ago (one of several gifts anyway).
thing comes out at least twice a week and we both love it.
It was indeed a great gift!

Maybe you could get her a book or video with instructions on how to "please" you in unconventional ways. You know, there's generally no nookie for at least 6 weeks after childbirth and I am sure she will be deeply concerned about just how you are going to survive that.

That there is the $900 version. I could probably make do with the $300 one.

I think a breast pump is a great idea, especially if she is planning on going back to work after the baby is born. When I had my kids (over a decade ago), Medela was the leading maker of breast pumps. Looks like it still may be true:

Get her a slow-cooker. Crockpot or some such.
You'll feel the love.
I did. Once.
Never again.

While a breast pump is a great thing to have, I don't consider it a good gift. I wouldn't a crib or a diaper genie for Christmas. Those are baby supplies.

I like getting that kind of stuff. But, then again, I've enjoyed getting a vacuum cleaner and a washer/dryer set as a gift too. I'm not all that sentimental when it comes to gifts. The funny thing is, my husband is very sentimental about giving gifts.

This is the worst . . . idea . . . ever.
My wife had a Madela hospital-grade pump "Symphony" (we leased it from the hospital) and swore she would never go back to anything else. So you (two) should lease one after she delivers, but don't put it under the tree. For all of us (men).

Dude...
Buy her the breast pump of her dreams out of the goodness of your heart, and then buy her a really nice Christmas present. Otherwise, we may all be reading headlines on Dec 26th of "Man Bludgeoned to Death With Breast Pump."

Wait until the baby is born and have the doctor write her a prescription for the pump that way insurance will pay for it, and than get the Medela symphony. As for Christmas, you have have to be able to come up with a better present than a breast pump.

Exactly what I was going to say! We didn't even need a prescription, just submitted to insurance they paid all of the $300+ tab. Bad gift idea anyway, it would be even worse for you when she found out that insurance paid for it.

How about a vacuum cleaner or a nice new teflon pan.
