"the sorriest cohort of masculine Homo sapiens to ever walk the planet."

So much for evolution:
"Since the Industrial Revolution, modern humans have grown taller and stronger, so it's easy to assume that evolution is making humans fitter. But according to anthropologist Peter McAllister, author of
Manthropology: the Science of Inadequate Modern Man,
the contemporary male has evolved, at least physically, into "the sorriest cohort of masculine
Homo sapiens
to ever walk the planet." Thanks to genetic differences, an average Neanderthal woman, McAllister notes, could have whupped Arnold Schwarzenegger at his muscular peak in an arm-wrestling match. And prehistoric Australian Aborigines, who typically built up great strength in their joints and muscles through childhood and adolescence, could have easily beat Usain Bolt in a 100-m dash."

Are we even allowed to use the word "masculine" in relation to the genus and species Homo sapiens anymore? I thought radical feminism had managed to get that word ranked right up there with a certain racial pejorative ;-)

"...as long as people are tempted to confuse evolution with improvement"
Any organism that continues to reproduce from generation to generation is well-adapted to its environment. "Improvement" is a subjective term.
The idea that we might not be as strong or as swift as our predecessors has nothing to do with "improvement" or lack thereof. But it makes for easier and more dramatic reporting than trying to explain evolution.

LOL! Of course, it was the OP that used the word "masculine," not McAllister. McAllister did, however, invent the word "Manthropology," and I understand that it is doctrine among some feminists that women do not belong to the genus "man."

next time I run into an early hominid, I'll bonk him in the head with my titanium driver.
I bet that the 2008 Detroit Lions could beat any professional team from 1960.
