That is fucked up. I couldn't imagine causing that much fear to one of my boys.

That is SO mean. I can't imagine some twisted setting their child up like that, recording it, then making it available on the internet!
My friends and I were just discussing how much we hate being scared ala someone hiding and jumping out and shouting Boo or whatever...It's a terrible feeling.

Have you ever seen that face and scream come up on your screen? It is terrifying. That said, the kid had a pretty good reaction--attacking it. Most people just pull back.

Maybe I am weird but what bugs me most about this whole thing isn't so much that the Kid is scared $hitless but that his jack ass parents set him up, taped him and now post it for the world to see- no wonder so many kids are screwed up. The very people who are supposed to protect him do just the opposite sick really friggin sick.

House ful of children & parents, yet not one adult in the house.
It's a growing situation. I mean, who wants to have kids and if you can't screw with them? ... and show it to your friends?
Hopefully we won't be reading about this kid in a few years when he returns the prank favor by tying his parents to their bed and lighting it on fire .... taping it to show HIS buddies. (somewhat tongue-in-cheek).
Life, as a kid is tough enough, without your parents joining in.

It reminds me of something my brother would have done to me as a kid. He was a sadistic prick back then. Who finds joy in making little kids cry?.....kj

I think, as a brother, you are obligated by law to pull those kind of pranks. Scare them, record it, show it to every potential buddy and/or girlfriend that you hear of. That's what brothers do.
That's also why "brother fights" are the best to watch. So much hatred and emotion that the fury flies, yet just enough love to keep someone from actually killing the other.

But I'm the baby
sister
. It has since been explained to me that my evil brother would irritate our oldest brother until he got pummeled, then in turn would take his frustrations out on me. Bear in mind he is 6 years older than me. Not exactly a fair fight.....kj

I did this very same thing - inadvertently - to my kid. After becoming suspicious that he might be colorblind, I went on line to find one of those find-the-number-in-the-circles tests. After three or four regular screens, a scarey face jumped out. I was pissed at the time, though my kid has not lasting scars, indeed no memory of it, perhaps because I tried hard to distract him and make him laugh at the time. He's still colorblind, though.

Would have been great if the monitor was an LCD and the kid pounding on it, destroyed it.

Sure what the kid's dad did was a little mean, but what's with the "Life, as a kid is tough enough"?
Being a kid is easy, no job, no homework, and no worries of much consequence. I was just told I have to work from 8 a.m. to 5 p.m. tomorrow, on my day off, I'd take my dad videotaping me getting a little scared any day over that.

It's all relative. Think back to when you were a kid and wearing the wrong shoes or brand of pants could mean endless teasing. Making a mistake at the wrong moment in front of the wrong people, and you'll never hear the end of it until high school (smart-mouths like me would see to it), being overweight, being sucky at sports, trying too hard in school, etc.
Certainly, using an adult perspective, being an adult is much harder than being a kid in terms of responsibility, work hours, sparse free time, etc. But, with a kid's perspective, being a kid is tough stuff.
As a kid, you expect to be hazed by the school bully, your older siblings (and their friends) ... but not by your parents.
I think if you think back and remember what is what like to be a kid, you can see how it can be tough times. Obviously, compared to now, worrying that Nancy will say no to your dance proposal in front of everyone is no big deal ... but, back then.
I see it everyday, stuff that I would find silly (as a teacher) is life and death to my students. The stuff that agonize over pales in comparison to trying to pay the bills, etc .... but from the kid's perspective it's "every bit as important".
That's all I was gettin' at. In short, enough people give you s--- as a child ... you're parents shouldn't be one of them (intentionally).
