Widespread soccer match fixing discovered in Europe Can't Post
Interesting article about all the fixing of soccer matches in Europe by organized crime - starting with syndicates from the Balkans.

What is interesting about this is that AC Milan, Real Madrid, and other teams in Europe are sponsored by betting organizations. It would be like major league baseball being sponsored by casinos in Las Vegas.

There is a point to be made that the NFL and other professional sports would not exist without gambling. Who doesn't look at the spread weekly, and who doesn't bet or know people who bet on football.

Professional sports everywhere are, well, corrupt.

I found it amusing that the NFL dumped large sums of money into passing the UIGEA and yet a gigantic part of their success is from gambling and now fantasy leagues ( more gambling)

For all that the NHL is effectively a second tier pro sport, I do really like how it refuses to cater to the gamblers.

NFL- mandatory detailed reporting of injuries solely because the Vegas bettors want that information

NHL- if you require emergency surgery after getting speared in the testicles, it will officially be described by team and league as a shoulder or lower leg injury.
