Why do I attract these people?

Seems I am always running into people with, shall we say, very interesting theories about the world.
Case in point - woman just left my office. At the door she asks me, "Are you ready for 2012?"
I thought she was referring to the movie that is about to come out.
So I replied, "I guess so. Haven't really planned on seeing it though."
Her: "No, not the movie. The actual date."
Me: "Well, no. Not really."
I won't quote her anymore but will just write the gist of what she told me:

Lots of people think it will be the end of the world. It is not the end of the world. There will be a massive solar flare. The flare will reach the Earth's atmosphere and disrupt the magnetic field. This disruption will cause all autistic people (children and adults alike) to evolve to a higher consciousness. I.e. they will become telepathic but only with each other. All non-autistic people will remain unchanged. These newly evolved people will have a "swarm intelligence" that will allow them to solve mathematical proofs, which to this date, have not been solved. These newly solved math equations will lead us into a new era of discoveries including the development of an unending power source. A power source that we will then use for space travel as we will have to flee the earth as it will be dying because of global warming.

LOL. That's funny. Whenever that happens to me I ask them if they REALLY believe what they are saying. If they say yes I move away slowly.

ha - Almost threw up my lunch at this question. I would say she was mid-sixties with a nasty rat's nest for hair.
I kept thinking some living thing was going to jump out of her hair.
Are you referring to the hair on top of her noggin or ...............

Sounds like one of those people who took the Jonestown Kool Aid out in California back in '97. Their astral bodies or whatever were going to rendezvous with a spaceship that was going to take them away. Hopefully, she doesn't go jumping off some bridge when 2013 rolls around. Of course, 2013 (13) has its own set of superstitions or beliefs attached, I'm sure.

On a related note, I had a guy at work tell me back in august that the Gov't was going to shut down the banks on Labor day and not reopen them. The Gov't was then going to sieze everyones money and suspend constitutional rights and completely take over or something like that.
I afraid to ask him why it didn't happen now. He seems a little unbalanced.
