Who said all this about John McCain??? (before he won the nomination of course) Can't Post

"I don't trust McCain on a large variety of issues and will be hard pressed to vote for him."

"Personally, I think a McCain presidency would be a disaster as he proceeds to piss off everyone."

"McCain is a good conservative, some of the time, when it suits him."

"I don't much like McCain for a variety of reasons"

"I just disagree with him (McCain) on fundamental issues and will not let pass your attempting to characterize him as a conservative. He is not."

"If he (McCain) is the nominee, he won't be able to raise money and will get run over by Clinton. It will be Clinton-Dole all over again."

"I just disagree with the guy (mcCain) on too many issues. If he wins the nomination, he will just be another nominee that tried to ride the Senate into the Whitehouse and failed. That list is long."

"McCain is a very poor Republican and I have bashed and continue to bash him accordingly to the extent he is off the reservation. He is off quite a bit. More importantly, he is a poor conservative."

I was getting tired of Art's digging up 3 year old posts to play gotcha so I had a go myself. Funny what you can find in the course of a 5 minute search.

Given that, I'd expect you to be voting for McCain!

You know that Republican's don't flip flop. They call it "changing their position".
When Dems "change their position", Repubs call it flip flopping. It's how they play the game.

I don't see your point. Those posts sound like me, and I pretty much stand by them.

That doesn't mean I am going to stand by and let people like you attack and demean the man about his depth of experience and having called national security issues spot on for the last five years.

I agree with Lieberman on national security issues. Like McCain, he is just an outstanding human being, principled and honest, who has served his country with distinction. That doesn't mean he would be my choice for President. He would not, but I wouldn't sit by and watch him be slandered on these pages either.

I don't really much like McCain, but I do have enormous respect for him. I do like Obama, but I have very little respect for him in the context of a candidate for President.

You really have to choose between bashing me for being a knee jerk Republican or acknowledging that I often bash my side when they lose the path. It is difficult for you to keep those contradictory thoughts in you mind at the same time, but, somehow, you manage.

Nicely done, Art. That's almost convincing. Can I safely assume you don't have a good radio voice, because you would totaly kick ass on a conservative station.

BTW, it was the Bob Dole comparison that gave it away for me. I remember that comment. I also remember the one about Obama being gone by Florida (or something to that effect). I'm waiting until November to dig that one up. ; ^ )

No, you don't bash your side. You bash the other side. You bashed McCain when he was the other side (of Romney, or Bush, or whoever). When McCain became your side, you stopped bashing him. Sorta like calling the college coed a slut until your frat brother gives her his pin, when she magically becomes virginal.

Like the others, you really need to search the archives to read what I have actually written. I have no problem showing my differences with McCain, including after his nomination:

Going on memory we have McCain-Kennedy education bill, Gang of 14 on Judges, McCain Feingold campaign finance, McCain Lieberman global warming legislation, McCain-entire Democratic Party comprehensive immigration reform.

Now I have to say that I am 100% opposed to all of the above, but his record of crafting legislation with the opposite party is without peer, possibly excepting Ted Kennedy, in my lifetime.
