When's Waxman Going To Get To Franklin Raines? (He's Buying A 4.9 MILLION Dollar Condo At The Ritz-Carlton) Can't Post

Let's hope Henry Waxman, self-appointed "Investigator-in-Chief" of this latest round of "Let's Kill All The CEOs" (which, this time, I'm surprisingly in favor of ;-) manages to get around to former Fannie Mae head Franklin Raines, he of the "he received over 90 million dollars in six years for helping to run Fannie Mae into the ground" fame.

Seems the market crash and slide in real estate values aren't hitting Mr. Raines too badly. He's got his nice D.C.-area colonial up for a tidy sum and has just purchased:

..."a three-bedroom, seven-bath penthouse condominium in the West End's Ritz-Carlton Residences for $4.9 million. The condo has a rooftop terrace with a hot tub, a butler's pantry, and three parking spaces. Raines, director of the US Office of Management and Budget under President Clinton, was CEO of Fannie Mae from 1999 to 2004." (The Washingtonian reports)

Here is a picture (credit: The Washingtonian) and description of the house Raines is currently trying to sell. I guess he considers the RCR a sacrifice!

From the Washingtonian:

In the market for a new house? Franklin Raines is selling. The former Fannie Mae head’s Forest Hills home went on the market two weeks ago. Called Beechwoods, the 98-year-old stucco Colonial sits on more than an acre and has views of nearby Soapstone Valley National Park. Highlights include a family room with cathedral ceiling, a library, a movie theater, a recreation room, and an exercise room. The remodeled kitchen has granite countertops, a skylight, a SubZero refrigerator/freezer, and double Wolf ovens. Outside is a pool, a cabana, a shared tennis court, and a four-car garage.

Last I heard, the words Fannie Mae and Freddie Mac haven't even been uttered in that hearing. To question Raines, they would have to say those out loud, possibly several times. I don't think anyone, and for sure the Dems, on that committee has the balls to do it.
