What's your recurring dream?
Can't Post
I had my recurring dream last night. My legs are too weak to stand up without help and sometimes I just collapse. I'm usually sitting on the floor or squatting down to get something then I find I can't stand back up, my thighs are not strong enough. I need help standing up and usually can grab a table or something else nearby. I try really hard to hide it. Once that starts I usually have a hard time walking and my legs will start to collapse. So far I don't remember anybody noticing. Weird.
I also have tornado dreams.
You?

Sounds very similar to my one about trying to run and not being able to, like walking through quicksand, stepping, but never able to actually run.

I've had that dream....trying to run, and no matter what, I just can't get my legs to move. I also have a recurring theme wherein I'm back at college, and its the end of the semester, and it suddenly dawns on me that I haven't been to any of my classes, and finals are coming up.

I used to have those exact two dreams; "Running without moving", and "Final exam morning panic attack"
Now a days it's more of a flying/soaring theme.

OK what does the running dream mean? I have it often.
How can different people keep having the same dream?

Airplane crash. It got to the point where I had to go see a therapist and they helped me somehow stop having it. In the few years since I saw her for the problem I have only had it one other time.
Somewhat oddly, the dream was once replaced by a dream where I went to an airport in a school bus with a bunch of people who were interested in airplanes and we watched airplanes come in all day. It was very nice, like a field trip or something. A beautiful 747 taxied right by us. I remember it vividly.

In no particular order:
fighting someone/something that refuses to die
teeth falling out
DUI
partaking of some illicit substance then realizing a failed drug test will cost me my job
-all of which is puzzling, considering that I'm a drug-free safe-driving ass-kicker with excellent dental hygiene.

I have a recurring dream involving fighting. Usually me against multiple opponents. The fight is for a good cause, although I never remember what.
Winning or losing I always wake up with a good feeling and a smile on my face ... wonder what a psychiatrist would have to say about that?

My husband theorizes that the weak legs is a reflection of not feeling in control of my life or something. Not sure that is true because I don't feel like that at all right now.
It is really freaky and makes me panic but I also know, in my dream, that is happens and that it isn't new. Like, I've been living with it for a while but it is getting worse.

I have a few that happen, but not often.
1. I am in in ocean or on the beach and there are humongous waves crashing down, but for some reason they never get me.
2. I am late for a plane or a race.
3. I forget to do my homework or study for a big test and I fail. This is kind of silly but I guess it means I don't like to fail?
4. Big hairy spiders that jump out at me. This is a huge phobia of mine.

I have also had the inability to run dream. It's a weird one where my feet are moving but they don't touch the ground - like I'm running on air but I can't get traction to move forward.
I always have a nightmare either two nights or the night before a race. Most of the time I am getting lost on the bike course or something bike related. Oddly enough, it puts me at ease to know I had my pre-race nightmare. When I don't have the dream, I'm a nervous wreck at my race.

stop it! i have that dream about school too, and it's absolutely dreadful.
i dream about water all the time in one capacity or another. the ohio river is in many of my dreams and tends to haunt me. also swimming pools. every night i dream about water--good or bad, there is always water.
when it's swimming pools, generally it's hotel pools for some reason.

Ok, that's weird. At least three of us have dreams about scary water and not being ready for finals or tests in school.
Are these common dreams or is it a glimpse into the psyche of triatletes? Hmmmmmm.

I remember some of your posts a few years back about your college dorm days. I can understand how you don't like remembering them.
I have a recurring dream, a nightmare actually, as it completely terrifies me. I have it at least once a month and when it comes I am unable to get back to sleep for the rest of the night. Here it is:
I am running through a neighborhood that I recognize, but I could not tell you exactly where it is. It just feels like I know it. I am running down the street and for some reason I run through the front door of a house, it is not mine though. I think I am trying to cut through it for some reason.
So I run through this house (a la Ferris Bueller) and run through several of the rooms until I get to the back door and then I run into the backyard. I run through the back yard and I am unable to get out of it. So I run to the side of the house, where there should be a gate, and all I find is an aluminum sliding door into the garage (my parent's have one like this). So I go through and get back into the house.
Now I am trying to get back to the front door, and I can't find it. At this point something happens (like the owner comes home or something) and I never make it out of the house. This is when I wake up, drenched in sweat.
I have shared this before. I have no idea why it petrifies me so, but I'll wake up in a cold sweat after this dream.

Google it. It is a VERY common nightmare. It is one of the more common elements in dream symbology.

Teeth:
http://predictions.astrology.com/dd/teeth.html
Dreams of losing teeth are often dreams of embarrassment or potentially embarrassing situations. The parallel waking experience could be summed up in the phrase "losing face" publicly.
Other possible teeth-loss dreams may come from physical sensations such as grinding your teeth or having particularly sensitive teeth

I occasionally have the unprepared for a test/ late to important event dream. I was a jerk-off much earlier in life, and it's most likely my fear of the old me poking his head up again. Lazy bastard...

To the ST shrinks out there, why are we all having the same dreams? I have pretty much the same ones described here.
