You're right. I mean ONLY 5 people died and 17 were hospitalized during the anthrax mailings. They probably would have been fine had they HTFU.
My question to you is, was the guy who sent these packages to McCain's offices a "liberal?" I mean, perhaps he was merely advocating "free trade" by sending "powder" across state lines, right?

See my reply to stl_triness. To claim that they could have convicted someone, with circumstantial evidence at best, is not only premature but completely idiotic. A trial could have found the guy completely innocent for all the government investigators know (which isn't much according the the $5 million lawsuit they lost when they arrested the wrong guy).

Your talking about the wackos that had a mountain of evidence that any day after FIVE YEARS they were going to use for an arrest? That guy was never convicted of anything, just remember that small detail.
U.S. officials, who spoke on condition of anonymity because of the sensitivity of the ongoing grand jury investigation, said prosecutors were closing in on Ivins, 62. They were planning an indictment that would have sought the death penalty for the attacks, which killed five people, crippled the postal system and traumatized a nation still reeling from the Sept. 11 attacks.
They were "closing" in on him, they were "planning" an indictment, they were going to seek the death penaltuy. Give me a freaking break, they had nothing and definitely not enough to even arrest Ivins. Total incompetence.
