The Biggest Loser - Official Season 8 Thread (Spoiler)
Can't Post
Ok, the last BL thread is getting too big and overloaded, so, I am starting a new thread for Season 8 (which I am watching right now).
So far, this seems like the most likable group in years.
The woman who lost her husband and two kids in the car accident ... damn ... How do you recover from that? How? IMO, she is my hero already.
I do not dislike anyone ... yet ...

You're having quite the conversation with yourself here. Is it possible that I'm the only one that's watched it already... ?

Just finished watching it. Really like this group so far.
Favorite is Coach Mo. And the green team. And the orange team.
The woman who is 48 yo looks about 65!!!
The dark haired pink girl is going to be a knockout. Shay will also be very pretty.
Damn! Did Alexandra say she's lost 60 pounds???? Awesome! She's going to be a pretty girl.

Just finished watching it. Interesting group.
I totally could have beat them all in that mile run. It might have been close, but I'm pretty sure I could have won.
I agree that us a horrible story from that woman, but I hope they don't focus on it too much. I wanna see more fat people puking and less sob stories. ;)

I agree, great group. So far, very supportive of one another. Like the fact that there are no trainer teams, that both trainers will train all contestants.
Go Coach Mo, he's from right here in Louisville.
And did you see some of the looks on that girl's face after the one mile? She had no idea where she was. And spending a "Biggest Loser week" (i.e. 10-12 days) in the hospital because of it. Looks like BL dodged it's first serious bullet.

Wolves in sheeps clothing. I can hardly wait until they turn on each other. ;)
Turn the freaking tears off. Is this suppose to be attractive? Where's Dr. Swill when you need him?
The format with both trainiers working with everyone sucks. And Jillian now calls everyone a bi*ch?

It is very interesting the direction in which they are going this season. Much more supportive and more "team building" type. I am curious as to whether this is in reaction to the prior two seasons, which involved some of the most despicable and unlikeable people I have ever seen on a tv series.

Julio is my only "dislike" on the show as of now.
Good opening to the season, what i found interesting was that Daniel left last season at 312 lbs and entered this season at 312 lbs, wonder how long in between taping the Season 8 there was?

We were DVRing it and hopped in for the Jacobs ladder scene before starting from the beginning.
Bam Sucked right back in. :) I loves me some Jillian screaming at people and having Bob in on it too rocks.

If it was possible, Jillian was even more "in your face" last night. Or maybe she just got started early.
Anyone else cringe when she said she had always told herself that if she experienced something like what Abbie did, that she would kill herself? I can't imagine the loss of my wife and newborn, but I would like to think I would somehow find the strength to carry on and make sure their memory stayed alive.

If the folks in the LR hadn't reminded me it was back I might have escaped another season of addiction - darn you all!! I don't have PVR so was switching between BL and my other current addiction, So You Think You Can Dance Canada, all evening. Not what I need in an already inactive off-season!
I too thought Jillian was way harsher than in previous seasons, but I think I can see why. She usually ends up dealing with the pity party midway through the season and this time around she's making it clear from day one that no excuses are acceptable. I initially thought she was being way to rough on Daniel's partner (the heaviest woman, can't remember her name) but it worked as she seemed to get the point and came back more fired up.
Something that is bothering me is the ethics of getting morbidly obese people to run a mile in the very first episode. Last year's marathon challenge struck me as ridiculous as running a marathon un/undertrained is a perfect way to get injured, and the mile was far worse as they had no fitness base. Isn't that something along the lines of reckless endangerment? The producers are getting these people to risk their health and their lives. I know the show is pure voyeurism, and I can handle the cat fights and nastiness but I do not want a contestant to die for my entertainment. I'm getting to the edge of my comfort zone with the show.

C'mon. Having someone die on TV has got to be great for ratings. Isn't that why they show the crying and puking too?

In which case they should give up all pretense and have a "challenge" where they throw them to the lions. Heck, they could get Discovery Channel on board and expand their audience.
I'd make a bread and circuses comment but as I'm posting about a reality show I'm follwoing while eating my take-out lunch, it'd probably be hypocritical.

I agree, so far I like everyone. If there is no snarkiness I might hang on for the whole season.
