I went from liking all of these people to not liking any of them. And I still don't know why I try and watch every week. The only thing I really care about is the grand scheme before and after. Everything in between is mind-numbing.

Why was there no follow-up with Shay where we get to see how much she lost since leaving the show? Did she gain weight? I have to admit, I found her annoying, so I'm not entirely sad to see her gone.

Same here. Amazing how "reality" sets in when they start to realize that it is a game. Then, it goes from "we are all in this together" to "every (wo)man for him/herself."

VERY sick of Liz. Rebecca needs to HTFU. I do like Allan a lot. I also like Amanda. Man, I cannot stand Liz.

I wonder the same thing. I suspect that Bob/Jillian may have gotten to her "on the side" with continued training. They may have intentionally omitted her for an unveiling later. Just guessing ...

She was on Leno right after show so it doesn't look like they were hiding her. Strange they covered one and not the other.

I am sick of Liz as well but am curious what they will do with her in the makeover show next week. She sure looks a lot older then 49. Saw Shay on Leno, she has lost 150 lbs so far, she looks better but still a long way to go.

This group has gotten annoying. I liked Shay, and I think she really needed to be there, seems like she's had a tough life and is trying to beat the odds. Just something about her that had me routing for her. I liked Daniel, too. He seems like a nice kid. As for the rest of them....Allen seems okay, he hasn't gotten as much air time and he hasn't gotten on my nerves (yet); Amanda is okay, but she doesn't seem to be as bad off as the rest of them. The rest of them are getting on my nerves. I agree on Rebecca - HTFU! Rudy seems like he's turned mean, and Liz is the most annoying creature! She does look older than 49, I would have guessed her to be 62. Doesn't seem like there will be much they can do during her makeover, except color her hair. That might make her look younger, but I hate to see nice grey hair colored - nothing shamefull about being grey.

I'm not sure why I keep watching, but thank heaven for the DVR.

Quite true although I was amazed to see the trainers single out Shay. It seemed like they were trying to give her an advantage which, since this is a game, should not be permissible.

Agreed. Also, I thought it was total b.s. to have an immunity challenge this week, given that one person was automatically going to be sent home. Also, the challenge that gave immunity was b.s. If they are going to give immunity (which they should never do), it should be based on what each contestant does, rather than they way they did it where everyone tried to "knock out" the other players.

Well, had the chance to get rid of Liz tonight and they blew it! Damn! I cannot stand her.

I liked Rebecca, but, she was a bit of a baby tonight. She is a bit whiney. She looks great, except for the hair. Cannot stand the new cut. She actually looked a lot cuter with the bandana.

Not sure what was up with Rudy. I did not follow his rationale for dogging Rebecca. What exactly did Rebecca do to make her untrustworthy?

Meeeooow!

I can't wait to read your analysis of each show.

I've lost interest pretty much. I do like the makeover shows though. I keep watching thinking it will get more interesting but so far, it ain't happening.

It has been pretty boring this year. I have had a hard time sticking with it this season.

Re: The Biggest Loser - Official Season 8 Thread (Spoiler) [JSA] [In reply to] Can't Post

THis season has been pretty boring. The personalities have not been that good. Nobody to hate or love, just kinda blah.

When they were at 8, there was talk of alliances between the youngs and the olds. Remember when they were worried about the red line. The talk was whichever group fell below the redline would be in trouble because then the other group would have the extra vote. The youngs were hoping liz was redlined. That way they would have the extra vote to eliminate whatever other old fell below the yellow that week. Funny thing was, the bottom 3 that week were all youngs. So then it fell to 2 youngs vs 4 olds. Now its 4 to 1. Amanda better hope she doesn't fall below the line next week or she is history. Personally I would say good riddance. She is my least favorite.

Right now I like Danny the best. I didn't care for him alot earlier, but he seems to have really "gotten" it. I liked Rudy ok early, but he seems to be somewhat of a douche lately.

Any thoughts about Alan and his plan to try and fly under the radar during the challenges. Seems like a smart move to me. Although I think he is letting down his green shirt. Tara made green the asskicking color last year. Its a shame to see it not kicking ass again this year.

I agree with everyone who has commented about this season being boring. I have it on but am doing other things, usually pay attention for the weigh in and if the challenge looks interesting (most have not). The contestants this season are just not that interesting, bad casting on the producers part. I do like Danny, except the makeover made him look like Fred Flinstone (or maybe John Goodman playing Fred Flinstone). I hope he can get it together as it appears that his young daughter is on the same path of weight problems. Looking forward to the "where are they now" show next Wednesday. A friend of mine did B2B and they were filming someone who was doing the half who was a former contestant, thinking it might be for that show.

Liz's cut was terrible as well! In fact, the entire makeover was pretty blah if you ask me.

Maybe it's because they are all still fairly large...it's one of the problems with the show casting larger and larger people to start with. They are much smaller than when they started but overall they don't lose most of the weight while still on the ranch.

This season has definitely bounced back and forth between some mega drama scenes and then some weeks that are very blah...

You almost couldn't recognize Rebecca on Leno...maybe it's the makeup....

I wasn't impressed with most of the makeovers, either. I don't like Rebecca's new cut or Liz's, either. I like Liz's hair better before they cut it.

One of the men, either Randy or Daniel, can't remember now which one, said during his speech that his sister had died when he was 12. Did anyone notice how surprised / annoyed the trainers looked when he said that and they said that they didn't know that? I know that for many people, weight is linked to emotional issues, but if he didn't want to share that with them then he certainly didn't have to. It made me mad that the trainers, especially Jillian, was so offended that he hadn't told her.

It was Rudy. Yep, that annoyed me that Jill was so pissed off that Rudy did not tell her about the sister. So, what does Jill do when they get back to the gym? She confronts Rudy for his failure to disclose the information. I liked Rudy's response. Basically, that it was none of her business. I get a little tired of Jill and her Dr. Phil personna.

BL gets a bad rap from alot of people because they claim that the fatties will just gain all the weight back. In many instances they are correct. However, the only way somebody gets that big is because they have some deep emotional issues. So to ignore them and simply focus on diet and exercise is to basically not caring about whether or not they regain the weight. If this show has redeeming value to society, and that is a big if, its message has to be that morbidly obese people need to find the root cause of their weight gain. It can't be just about eating subway and sweating. That may work in the short-term, but will have zero impact long-term.

Is Jillian the best person to be helping them with these issues? That is debatable. On one hand, she may not be the most qualified. However, on the other hand, she has in some cases developed a bond and certain level of trust with the contestant. Without that trust, they aren't going to open up and try to deal with their issues.

I can understand why they would be somewhat put out that he withheld the information. I think they are truly trying to help these people change their lives, not just win a big check. They understand the above. When Rudy doesn't share his issues, it pretty much insures that he will regain all the weight. So in essence, the trainers are wasting their time helping him with temp weight loss. If I were them, I would be alittle pissed about that too.

Wow. I did not see that.

Rebecca is 25. Danny is 20. Not a very big difference.

Blaine from TBL is here at IM AZ and has an athlete wristband on. We saw him today and he's still a pretty big guy, but he's pretty tall. Good luck to him.

Also, last night at the carbo dinner there were 4 people who they called up on stage having lost at least 80+ pounds, 4 guys and one woman. Blaine wasn't one of them though.

That's pretty cool. Why do you suppose Blaine wasn't up on stage? Likely b/c he did not lose the weight "training for Ironman?"

Good luck to him.
