who feels sorry for the winner of schuttler-clement, at 4h+ of match, and who will have to play the Nadalator tomorrow?
Bets on for the final?

Semi-finalists receive $371,577.15 at today's rates. I don't feel sorry for the winner of the quarterfinal match.

It's almost impossible to think anyone but Nadal/Federer will be in the final.
Nadal is so strong that I would say he is at least 50/50 to win this year. It should be a great final.

I'm going for Fed, he is playing like in 2006...never a break point against him, or so rarely, hi percentage of first serve, it looks, incredibly easy when he plays.

I would also bet on Federer.
I think we may see 3 GS finals this year with Nadal/Federer and the U.S open will be the tie-breaker.
For the women, I lost interest with Ivanovic losing..:)

If he's playing so well now, do you know what happened to him in the French Open? I wasn't able to watch it and didn't follow up with the analysis after. I usually root for the underdog except I love watching Federer so I really want him to win. Or, maybe he's not he underdog given the whipping he got a few weeks ago.

He played well the whole week, and really didn't play so well in the final. a bad day. On top of that, Nadal was just playing an amazing tennis on clay...hence the beating.

Agree.......Nadal is simply a master on clay.

Yeah, Nadal is pretty athletic, for a white boy. :) Still, no Yannick Noah...
ps. did I mention I'm old?

Do guys play tennis? I never realized that.:-)
Tennis to me is like beach volleyball. I only ever bother watching the women. The prospect of a Venus vs Serena final is very intriguing.

Actually, it was my sport, waaaaaay back...played a couple of tournaments again last year, and even have a ranking now (4.5) ;-)
Prediction was correct so far, Federer destroyed Safin...

Ah Yannick Noah....
That was an awesone tennis player. The last "offensive"/net player to win on Clay @ RG and against Matts Willander in 1983 (If I recall correctly).
That guy enjoyed, and still do, life and on top of it he was gifted.
Fred.

But that was split over 2 days, so it could help them out or not.
Federer is like Tiger Woods... He is out there to get his 6th consecutive title to pass Bjorn Borg and he will win.
Then two more to go.....
Fred.

Yep...crushed in set 1, but has the break in the second and is holding it so far...
the stats against safin are amazing for fed...2 break points against him, no serve lost, 1h41...and the way he returns when Safin hits 130-135mph serves is just amazing. and of course, when he serves, it's just useless to play, might as well skip the game and play your next game of serve.

I'm glad Venus won today. She's so much classier than Serena, who can be a sore loser.
My bet is on Nadal tomorrow - even though I hope Federer wins.

I wish I was wrong, as I'm a Federer fan.
But Nadal is a great player and a gentleman, so it could be worse.
Looks like a rain delay. Could help Roger but I doubt it.

That cover is pretty cool. They get the court covered in about 10secs, then actually raise the cover into a tent so that the water doesn't weigh down on the court. Pretty cool. They were showing groundskeepers walking around under the tent drying up the small amount of water that got in before they covered.

True. It's amazing how quickly Nadal has brought his grass game up to match Federer's over the last 5 years considering Federer has not been able to do the same thing on clay.

Everyone talks about the mental of Tiger Woods...But Nadal and Federer are amazing...fantastic passing of nadal to get a champ point, same thing from Federer to come back, and then win the set...
I'm not going to run until that game is over...the level is amazing!

Agreed. Not better or worse, just a different type of mental strength when you have a face-to-face opponent. How does federer not weaken after losing the first two sets, and how does Nadal not weaken after losing that advantage. Amazing.

One other thing.
Best instant replay system in professional sports, bar none. Quick, decisive, and doesn't break up the flow of the match too much.

I fear rafa lost too much mo after the DF in the tie break while up 5-2. maybe the last rain delay will help him get it back, i hope.
