Suggestions Need: Looking for New Office Shirts
Can't Post
It's time to get myself some new workshirts and I would like some suggestions. It's for my chiropractic business.
In the past it was dress shirts and polo shirts, but now I want to get something more unique. I was thinking about doing something more monkeywrench like along the same line as car/bike mechanic shirts, but with an element of flair. I'm having a tough time finding anything. Maybe our Euro ST member can point me somewhere. I'm tired of Cintas, etc.
Thanks.

No suggestion, just an observation. In talking with any number of Chiropractors, a common theme seems to be a percieved lack of respect for the profession. A lot of "oh, well, you're not a
real
doctor" or "nothing more than a glorified masseuse" type of comments, both from within the medical community and from without. With respect to attracting new clients, are you doing yourself any favors by dressing down, rather than dressing up?
I don't want my mechanic (or someone who dresses like him) messing around with my spine. Just sayin'......

I agree.
Since the 1930-40's chiropractors used to wear what is now known as a dentist jacket. Its the one that snapped or buttoned on the side from shoulder to neck. Something like this:
I really liked them, but they lost favor in the last twenty years (and having horror films use them didn't help -- remember the movie Brazil). Chiropractic has always had an identity problem which manifest itself in our apparent lack of a universal uniform. Heck, even the girls at Clinque have a crisp white jacket that makes them stand out. If the makeup companies can form successful brand identities, I think chiro's should be able to too. Chiropractic could use some corporate branding.
Maybe I should return to the white jacket for old time sake.

I am a little different, I wear scrubs. I have my name embroided on them. I just purchased cuter ones (i am a girl, a bit different) and will put the Active Release logo on them. I have bunions and waer nice running shoes all day, I definitly look casual but comfortable.

In my dental practice I have tried a number of things over the years. Certainly, the image you want to project plays a role in your decisions, so does office design and decor. For very upscale, nothing beats very nice slacks, shirt, tie, et. al with a very clean crisp white long "lab" coat. But, this is not very practical for back to back "messy" proceedures. For me, I prefer something more casual. I like the look of kaki slacks and nice scrub top with practice name and Dr. name. But, this is not really condusive for days when I am doing lots of surgeries. For these days, full scrubs when I am in active treatment rooms, Then I may add a white "lab" coat when I am not with those patients. For Hygienists, I always seem to come back to scrubs. They are practical, fairly innexpensive, and these days can come in a large variety of styles. Its suprising how quickly they can mess these up. Business staff will either be in kakis with polo top or neat business atire, depending on the person.
