Shooting at Ft. Hood Can't Post

Seven dead, twelve injured. One shooter in custody at least one on the loose.

In the first minutes when I heard one shooted I thought maybe a soldier with mental issues but now with multiple shooters that becomes less likely and the scenario gets even worse.

AP reporting the number of dead/wounded unclear.

update:

They are saying 1 in custody 1 surrounded 1 shooting. All are in fatigues

edit : update 20 wounded

Yeah, I can't fathom a scenariou with multiple shooters and all in fatigues.

So either people dressed as soldiers wearing fatigues and planned this out? Or multiple actual soldiers got together to do this? Like you said, I could understand a single soldier with mental issues, but this is either multiple soldiers or people disguised as soldiers? I am not sure which is worse.

first thing that popped into my head was "drug cartel related". No basis for this and I'm not even sure where this base is relative to "problem areas". Just my first thought FWIW

Re: Shooting at Ft. Hood [SwBkRn44] [In reply to] Can't Post

The least likely scenario would be a group of disgruntled soldiers. Not impossible but unlikely.

I could be way off but I think you can guess what I think the most likely would be.

Second place goes to domestic terrorists. And by that I mean a radical Timothy McVeigh types and not people living here connected with international terrorists. Those fall under the most likely.

Just my opinion though.

I have always had issues with how open bases are but even if you lock them down they are not very hard to get onto given their size and how easy it is to blend in. It got a little better after 9/11 but not much.

They are now reporting they were carrying M-16's which means nothing in the grand scheme of things.

Ft Hood is an open post so once you are on it you can wander around almost at will. One could even get lucky and once they OK you unless you get stopped for a random inspection you could drive through wioth a trunk full of whatever. I doubt thats what happened but its just one of the reasons I have always disliked open posts.

With so many shooters, it has to be some sort of terrorist attack.....Yikes

Muslim terrorists.

That was my first thought.

Yeah, a group of disgruntled soldiers seems very unlikely. A single disgruntled soldier, certainly, but a group, probably not.

I could understand domestic terrorists. But reports say everyone in fatigues? So I guess these guys would have disguised themselves in fatigues.

I am missing the one you think to be most likely that you didn't explicitly say, not sure where you were going with that?

With so many shooters

So many? I've only heard 2 or 3, is something else being reported? Certainly 2 or 3 is well with in the realm of just about any possibility from a group of nut jobs to organized attack.

The terrorist activity here in the US has been extremely high lately.

The number of recent arrests/foiled plots has been quite alarming, yet, you haven't heard much about them.

One of my favorite MTB trails is on Ft Hood....BLORA trail. Go there quite frequently, as it is open to all...just have to register at the rec shack.

I think this is number one and could even be current or former military types. I don't think November 5 is a coincidence. We shall see.

You're right, it's now reported as 2 shooters.

I heard (verbal) report that it was a small group. I guess I should wait until all the facts are in.

I am thinking that it's a terrorist from one of the Axis of Evil countries. They infiltrated America by jumping out of a high altitude plane, or by swimming several miles after exiting a submarine.

No way this could be a domestic white dude or foreign born immigrant, or God forbid soldiers, going nuts and just killing people. Or a domestic terrorist. Shit like that never happens in America.

Could it be some disgruntled ex-soldiers who didn't make it through Basic or something? Saw an interview with a congressman's aide who was there for a graduation ceremony. The shootings were near where that was held. Only graduation I can imagine is from basic. Fort Hood doesn't have much in the way of special forces training or anything, does it?

It most certainly could be any one of those people.

Muslim terrorist seemed much more likely though.

Has anyone here or otherwise suggested that they 100% have a lock on who it is? There are multiple scenarios that are possible.

It would probably be a good day for you to bury your far left America is evil crap. Americans, your countrymen, have been killed on our soil. No matter who did this its not the time for the bullshit.

Reports out now say everyone involved, victims and shooters, were military.

They are reporting it was soldiers.

One was killed

Least likely of my scenarios but given where it happened I am thinking possibly they were getting ready to deploy and lost it. Just surprises me that there was more than one.

Ive seen it happen three times personally ( some didnt get to the point of shooting, one did, another was killed by MP's) but it was never more than 1 person. Its especially odd given they shot so many. Typically they are centered on a particular person such as a commander who they felt wronged them.

It just seems very odd.
