I haven't looked into how much electricity costs versus gas right now. Off the top of my head I'd say that electric is probably still more expensive, but you have to start somewhere. Can someone double check me on this please? Looking HERE It would appear that Tesla Motors is claiming a 110Wh/KM "Mileage". A quick Google brought up "Average US electricity cost" of around .10$ per kWh. This comes out to around .011$ per KM or .017$ per mile. Doing the same thing with a car at 4$ per gallon and 40 MPG you're looking at .1$ per mile. What am I missing here? Is it true that an electric car would essential, already, cost 1/10 in fuel costs as a gasoline vehicle? My first suspicion was that the 110 Wh/km quoted at Tesla was "ambitious", but a quick google turned up several other examples ranging from .48 kWh/mile to .214 kWh/mile as "typical". Even the higher number would be 50% the cost of current gas price and the "Typical" number would be equivalent to around .80$ a gallon. ~Matt
