Really important questions
Can't Post
Same sex marriage, belief in a deity, tax code, health care,....all pale in comparison to this question:
Should Belichek have gone for it on 4th and 2 against the Colts last night?

He either showed supreme confidence in his offense, or profound fear of Indy's. I suspect a little of both.
Probably only answerable in hindsight, in which case, the answer is fairly clear.

mathematical analysis of football has suggested that you should almost always go for it on 4th down instead of punting.
there is one highschool team that put that into practice, they don't even have a punter, and they do quite well.
not clear that the odds would be the same in the NFL though.

This must be what you're talking about. Sounds like that QB is having a blast.

This more sophisticated analysis
supports Belichick's decision. 77.3% chance of winning going for it on 4th down vs. 75.7% punting. Makes me wonder if teams are running these sophisticated programs during the game to support their decisions. Probably.
That said, some of my most enjoyable moments in football have been seeing Belichick and his obese spawn Charlie Weis try this stunt, and get stuffed and lose the game.
Any time that both NE and ND lose on the same weekend is just a damn solid weekend.

In CFL Football( 3 downs for 10) teams gamble regularly with that amount to go. It's almost a given if you are near center field or beyond.
