Question for the Parent's out there Can't Post

My kids are into the Backyardigans and we have a couple of CD's in the car. Does anyone have trouble getting the kids music out of their head? If I'm working out and I don't have headphones on, I have some those songs in my head!! It gets so bad, that I'll be in a race and I'll realize that's what I have in my head. I guess it could be worse to have the Wiggles stuck in my head.

I had a co worker years ago who would purposely come into my office and start singing "Loving You" by Minnie Ripperton, knowing that I'd have that damn song stuck in my head all day. He thought it was hilarious...the SOB.

I did a two hour ride once with a song from "Raffi Radio" in my head the whole time. I was tempted to ride off the road into a tree to end it.

Look up "earworm".

Barney's songs used to be on an endless replay in my mind. The worse the song the more it stuck. I feel ya.

You suck! :) Thanks a lot. Now I have the Backyardigans tune in my head.

We've got the whole wide world in our yards to explore!
We always find things we've never seen before.
That's why everyday we're back for more,
With your friends the Backyardigans!

A couple of weeks ago I was out for my last long run before my marathon next week, and I kept getting the "it's racing day" song from the "Racing Day" episode in my head.

The Bare Naked Ladies did a kids album, called Snacktime, that's quite good, but sticks in a similar way

...the ninjas are deadly and silent, they're also unspeakably violent, they speak japanese, and do what ever they please and vacation on islands...

I am CURSED with our daughters tunes being stuck in my head.

I had the Backyardigans singing "eurekaaaaa, euraka! when you finda what you seeka eureka eureka eureka!!!", PLUS during my cyclocross workout on Tuesday I was cursed with whatever tune her little toy piano plays.

Trout Fishing In America will save you. Get lots of TFIA and you will be saved. Great kids songs with real wit and musicianship (spelling?). Good times.

Ha! I'm glad I'm not the only one!! I get the Go! Go! Go! song in my head the most!!! and Surf's Up!!
My son tried to scare me the other day by trying to be the Yeti! I looked at the TV but it wasn't on. We've watched that episode so much he even sounds like him. Yeti! Yeti! Yeti!

I have had days with nothing but They Might Be Giants songs stuck in my head (they have 2 kids albums now). Fortunately, I like the music!

I think we "lost" the Raffi CD. Burl Ives isn't too bad.

I sympathize.
No children but work in Children's hospital and have constant influx of kids entertainment.

I can recite certain movies, Shrek, word for word.

Hip Hop Harry has been my new find for humour. I love that they "warm up" to dance...

I have one of those as well, but we haven't listened to it recently. We were also into the Buzz Buzz Buzz lady - Laurie Birkner. That wasn't so bad either.

Thanks for reminding me about the Wiggles music...I think I could have filled in as a Wiggle at one point with the frequency I heard those songs. Now I'm cursed with High School Musical, Hannah Montana, Jonas Brothers and the Cheetah Girls songs stuck in my head. Good luck.

Every time I hear "do your ears hang low" I always think of the version we use to sing, "do your balls hang low" and my wife always gives me a dirty look while I'm smirking.

You just gotta learn to embrace it and go with the flow...it doesn't get any easier.

We just got my 8 year old daughter a hand-me-down karaoke machine that came with a couple of discs...last ride I did I couldn't get "Oops, I did it again!" out of my head...

Oh yeah..."High School Musical" (one and two) are big around our house too. Doh!

Would you consider putting some of it on your IPOD "embracing" it? In between Metallica songs? Not that I have....yet.

I'd need to get an ipod first =:-O

Let's put it this way, I know some of the "HS Musical" songs well enough that I have been known to do karaoke duets with my daughter...with other people around even ;-)

BTW, my metal tastes run more towards Judas Priest, Scorpions, and AC/DC rather than Metallica...but I like that idea of "mixing" the genres....hmmmm....

My kids aren't old enough to be embarrased by me yet. So when I bust out the "Soarin" notes, they just laugh.

The Backyardigans are bad, but those Wonder Pets are even worse- the duck's voice is nauseating!
